PGA TOUR betting brings forth yet another elevated event, this time in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship. Quail Hollow Club will return to its usual place as host of this event, with intermittent breaks over the last few years when hosting the Presidents Cup or PGA Championship. Due to its sheer length, Quail Hollow has served as an ideal prep for major-like conditions. It has produced a winning score beyond -12 just once since 2016. Can any sleeper golf DFS picks emerge this week?

Wells Fargo Championship INTRODUCTION

Quail Hollow is yet another difficult course on the PGA TOUR schedule. The longest hitters will enjoy a distinct reward and leg up on the field through distance alone. With eight par 4s measuring over 450 yards, there are very few wedge shots to be had on this layout. Instead, players can expect a repeatable formula of drivers and long irons throughout.

With such a specific skill set needed, we have a clear path to identifying value this week. Simply hone in on under-priced bombers proficient with their long irons and above-average to the field with their short game on fast Bermuda greens.

Difficult scoring conditions seldom produce longshot winners, but Quail Hollow has had its fair share of surprises anyway. Three winners over the last 10 years sported 500-1 opening odds. With a positive outlook for longshot prospects at this event in the past, we’ll look to dig for some diamonds in the rough in this article ahead of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.

FINDING VALUE IN GOLF DFS PICKS: Wells Fargo Championship

To identify “value” any given week on the PGA TOUR, I find it’s best first to understand the consensus key stat profile. Then, take a stance on the elements of the tournament that may go overlooked. At the Wells Fargo Championship, Recent Form, Course History, and SG: TOT in difficult scoring conditions are consensus key areas factored into each player’s price.

From a sleeper perspective, I will take a stance on the importance of Prox: 175+ and Comp Course History to differentiate my player pool, and find value for this week’s tournament.

Below, find my favorite value PGA golf sleepers and longshots for the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship. Stats pulled across Last 36 Rounds unless otherwise noted.

Corey Conners (, $7,800)

These limited field Signature Events force us to get a little more liberal about what tier we consider a bona fide “longshot”. From a win equity standpoint, I’ve crossed every name beyond the 80-1 outright odds threshold off the list this week. Conners, however, is the furthest down the odds board I feel comfortable staking an outright wager on.

The two-time Valero Texas Open champion isn’t exactly known for his ability to close big-time events, but he may have drawn inspiration from his fellow countryman Taylor Pendrith in Texas last week. Both players picked up some valuable reps playing alongside each other at the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow, and that bonus experience paid immediate dividends for Conners with a career-best T8 finish in his most recent trip to Quail Hollow at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship.

Conners has consistently elevated his baseline in difficult scoring conditions, with five top-20 finishes between The Masters and PGA Championship since 2020. In this concentrated field of the best players the PGA TOUR has to offer, he remains elite in terms of SG: APP (No. 2), Prox: 175+ (No. 4), and SG: OTT (No. 15).

Harris English (, $7,400)

Another value player this week who lacks a decorated history of closing tournaments but consistently elevates his baseline at difficult scoring venues (including Quail Hollow), Harris English has become a go-to value player for me in tournaments like these this season.

The Georgia native has looked right at home in this region of the country, finishing top-30 in each of his last four starts in Southeast Bermuda-based venues. With his combination of elite Driving Distance (No. 25) and Bermuda Putting upside (No. 13), it’s easy to make a case for English to thrive in these conditions at Quail Hollow. A T3 at this event last year helps further support the notion that long, difficult Bermuda courses are his bread and butter. And, if you need any further justification, he’s finished top-30 in each of his last four trips to Bay Hill, one of the top comp courses on the PGA TOUR to Quail Hollow.

Emiliano Grillo (, $6,300)

Just $300 above the minimum price on DraftKings this week, Grillo will be a popular “high floor” consideration in this no-cut event on the merit of his course history, course fit, and recent form.

Back when there was a cut at the Wells Fargo Championship, Grillo strung together an impressive resume of four made cuts in four prior appearances, including top-25 finishes in each of his last three trips to Charlotte. A skilled ball-striker who possesses above-average driving distance and accuracy, it’s no wonder Grillo has been able to find such consistent success at this course.

While he’s struggled on recent positional venues and at The Masters, Quail Hollow should serve as a welcomed change of pace, as the last time he appeared at a Signature Event on a long and difficult Bermuda course, he was a T8 finisher at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Seamus Power (, $6,200)

Like Grillo, you won’t have to worry about paying a premium for an unblemished resume of past performance at Quail Hollow when it comes to Seamus Power this week. He’s made it through the cut in each of his first five trips to this venue, including two top-20s over his last three appearances.

A strong long-term putter, Power seems due to breakout of a prolonged slump on the greens this season, which has masked his otherwise respectable ball-striking form. When the putter has clicked his year, it’s been on Bermuda greens, as those positive putting performances have led to top-30 finishes at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Valspar Championship, and RBC Heritage. That combination of recent form and proven course history is more than enough justification to back Power in the placement betting market or as a DraftKings value play this week.
