NFL Division Winner Markets
The 2025-26 NFL regular season kicked off all the way back on September 4th. The regular season has ended, meaning NFL Division Winners have been decided, so these NFL futures bets are closed.
Let’s take a look at how these NFL futures odds looked in preseason.
AFC East
The AFC East was unexpectedly won by the New England Patriots, largely in part to Drake Maye’s likely MVP-winning campaign at quarterback. In their best season since Tom Brady left, the Patriots finished 14-3, but somehow didn’t earn the #1 overall seed, falling via tiebreaker to the Denver Broncos.
Meanwhile, the runaway favorites Buffalo Bills finished 12-5 and locked up the #6 seed in the AFC as the second-ranked Wild Card seed. Despite a lack of options at WR, Josh Allen and company got through a rather easy schedule with plenty of bumps in the road. They will take on the AFC South winners Jacksonville Jaguars on Super Wild Card Weekend. Many believe that this could be their window to the Super Bowl, now that the Chiefs and Ravens have missed the postseason.
The Dolphins were beleaguered by on and off-field issues all season, losing Tyreek Hill to a potentially career-ending injury early in the season. Regardless, they will almost certainly move on from him in the offseason. Miami had a very strong finish to the season, which certainly bodes well for the future, whether that includes QB Tua Tagovailoa or not remains to be seen.
The New York Jets were, somehow, worse than expected, going 3-14 and becoming the first team to ever have zero interceptions on defense for the entire season. They will have the #2 pick in the NFL Draft and will almost certainly choose a QB to replace Justin Fields, who will likely be released.
AFC East Final 2025 Standings:
| # | Team | Record | Opening Odds |
| 1. | New England Patriots | 14-3 | +550 |
| 2. | Buffalo Bills | 12-5 | -285 |
| 3. | Miami Dolphins | 7-9 | +900 |
| 4. | New York Jets | 3-14 | +1900 |
AFC North
The AFC North came down to the final kick of the season, as the Pittsburgh Steelers scraped by the Baltimore Ravens 26-24 to claim the final AFC playoff spot and the division. The AFC North was a three-team race heading into the season, though major injuries throughout the Ravens camp, including quarterback Lamar Jackson, derailed Baltimore’s season.
Superstar quarterback Joe Burrow also experienced another long-term injury, which kept Cincinnati from doing anything meaningful this season. Unfortunately for the Bengals, Jake Browning and Joe Flacco couldn’t steady the ship, going 1-8 in combined starts while Burrow went 5-3.
As for the Cleveland Browns, they looked lost for most of the year, going through three quarterbacks and finishing at a measly 5-12. They did win their last two games of the season and Myles Garrett set the single-season sack record, so there’s plenty of positives to take.
AFC North Final 2025 Standings:
| # | Team | Record | Opening Odds |
| 1. | Pittsburgh Steelers | 10-7 | +550 |
| 2. | Baltimore Ravens | 8-9 | -160 |
| 3. | Cincinnati Bengals | 6-11 | +250 |
| 4. | Cleveland Browns | 5-12 | +3300 |
AFC South
The AFC South was won by the Jacksonville Jaguars on the final day of the season. The Jaguars completed an unbelievable turnaround in 2025, going from 4-13 to 13-4 in just one season. Their trade deadline deal for WR Jakobi Meyers was an incredible inflection point, with the Jags heading into the playoffs on an eight-game winning streak.
The Houston Texans finished a very respectable 12-5 after starting the season 0-3. They possessed the #1 total defense and #2 scoring defense in the NFL and could be dark horses to make a Super Bowl run.
The Indianapolis Colts lived a Greek tragedy, starting the season 7-1 and finishing 8-9, ending the season on a seven-game losing streak. Many consider their collapse to be one of the NFL’s all-time worst, having a truly brutal second-half schedule and losing starting quarterback Daniel Jones to a torn Achilles. It was fun to see Philip Rivers come out of a five-year retirement, though he couldn’t steady the ship and went 0-3 in his three starts.
As for the Tennessee Titans, it was another year of rebuilding, though Cam Ward, the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, looked to get better every week behind center. Superstar WR Calvin Ridley couldn’t relive his 2024 campaign, going through a carbon copy of his 2021 season in 2025. Another season where he heavily underperformed before missing the rest of the season due to injury. They’ll have the #4 pick in the draft and will hope to make a couple big moves in free agency.
AFC South Final 2025 Standings:
| # | Team | Record | Opening Odds |
| 1. | Jacksonville Jaguars | 13-4 | +310 |
| 2. | Houston Texans | 12-5 | +110 |
| 3. | Indianapolis Colts | 8-9 | +375 |
| 4. | Tennessee Titans | 3-14 | +800 |
AFC West
The AFC West was won by the Denver Broncos with plenty of room to spare. The Broncos shocked the league this year by not just going 14-3, but winning the #1 overall seed in the AFC.
While Bo Nix looked very good, the Broncos defense was playing at a near-historic pace, going after the single-season sack record for a good chunk of the year. Denver made for fantastic viewing all season and denied the Kansas City Chiefs of their 10th-consecutive AFC West title.
The Chargers finished 11-6 for the second year in a row, clinching a place in the AFC postseason. The Los Angeles backfield had to flip flop a ton this season, having to trot out a total of eight running backs. At one point, they were forced to start fourth-string running back Jaret Patterson. Nevertheless, Keenan Allen’s return, Quentin Johnston’s big improvement, and Oronde Gadsden II’s sudden productivity caused the Chargers offense to continue ticking. They’ll surely be a contender to win it all, should they be able to knock off the Patriots.
The Kansas City Chiefs were finally exposed for all their flaws this season. Without a consistent running game and Rashee Rice suspended for their first six games, they looked very poor out of the gate. However, they bounced back to 6-6 and looked invincible with Rice out on the field, only to lose both their starting and backup offensive tackles. Then, Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL, rubber-stamping the end of their season. It didn’t help that the Chiefs went 1-7 in one-score games.
As for the Las Vegas Raiders, a season-opening win gave fans a lot of hope after they went all-in on Geno Smith, Ashton Jeanty, and new Head Coach Pete Carroll. However, that excitement was short-lived as it was clear they had one of the worst offensive lines in NFL history. The season was over before it began, and trading Jakobi Meyers to the Jaguars at the trade deadline was the ultimate white flag. They did do something right though: lose. The Raiders secured the #1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and will almost certainly choose an exciting rookie quarterback. It’ll be interesting to see who they bring in for Carroll, who was immediately fired at the end of an awful 3-14 campaign.
AFC West Final 2025 Standings:
| # | Team | Record | Opening Odds |
| 1. | Denver Broncos | 14-3 | +350 |
| 2. | Los Angeles Charger | 11-6 | +310 |
| 3. | Kansas City Chiefs | 6-11 | -110 |
| 4. | Las Vegas Raiders | 3-14 | +2000 |
NFC East
The NFC East was won by the Philadelphia Eagles with little resistance, as the rest of the NFC looked brutally bad in comparison. The Eagles were far from their Super Bowl-winning form, with Saquon Barkley considerably regressing, albeit having another 1,000-yard season.
The Dallas Cowboys had a phenomenal offense but their defensive woes were too awful to ignore, especially early on in the season. The loss of Micah Parsons condemned the Cowboys to giving up a league-high 30.1 points per game. George Pickens was fantastic but he hits unrestricted free agency, putting the onus on Jerry Jones to reward him with a gigantic contract. There are certainly more questions than answers heading into the offseason.
Washington came off a shocking NFC Championship run with sky-high expectations that were stumped with Jayden Daniels unable to stay healthy. Beyond Daniels, their whole team seemed injured at times and their defense was completely disfunctional. Going from 12-5 to 5-12 was abysmal and they’ll need to do a lot this offseason to turn it all around.
There was a lot to love about the New York Giants in 2025, including the sensational rookie duo of Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo. Unfortunately, they both suffered injuries, including a gruesome season-ending dislocated ankle for the wrecking ball running back. Unfortunately for Giants fans, they cost themselves dearly in the NFL Draft at the end of the season, winning their last two games to fall from the potential top pick to the fifth pick.
NFC East Final 2025 Standings:
| # | Team | Record | Opening Odds |
| 1. | Philadelphia Eagles | 11-6 | -130 |
| 2. | Dallas Cowboys | 7-9-1 | +600 |
| 3. | Washington Commanders | 5-12 | +235 |
| 4. | New York Giants | 4-13 | +3000 |
NFC North
The Chicago Bears were undoubtedly the feel-good story of the 2025 NFL season, winning NFC North, one of the toughest divisions in football to make the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Caleb Williams is for real, their offensive line is great, and they have a sensational defense. It’s now up to them to win their first playoff game in 15 years.
The Packers somehow found a way to stumble into the playoffs in an ultra-competitive NFC with just nine wins. Unfortunately, it’s all going downhill at the wrong time, as they lost Micah Parsons with a torn ACL and have given up a league-high 170.8 rushing yards per game in his absence. QB Jordan Love has been a fantastic game manager but has missed the last two games with a concussion and rest. Will the Packers be rusty or will they show up hungry?
For as bad as they were, the Minnesota Vikings have a lot to be happy about, finishing the season on a five-game winning streak, as their defense allowed just 52 combined points over the last five games. However, their offense was extremely poor and inconsistent, with the Kevin O'Connell-J.J. McCarthy leaving us with a ton of questions heading into the offseason. There was a three-game stretch where McCarthy only got the ball to Justin Jefferson six times for 37 combined yards. That just can’t happen.
After just missing the Super Bowl in 2023 and being upset by Washington in 2024, the Detroit Lions suffered their biggest shock by not making the playoffs, despite being tabbed to win the division. To be fair, Detroit suffered a shock Frank Ragnow retirement before the season started, a ton of injuries on the defensive side of the ball, and the loss of superstar tight end Sam LaPorta. They were also in season one without Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, who both left their coordinator jobs to become head coaches. All in all, they did well to win nine games, but this season was a complete letdown.
NFC North Final 2025 Standings
| # | Team | Record | Opening Odds |
| 1. | Chicago Bears | 11-6 | +550 |
| 2. | Green Bay Packers | 9-7-1 | +275 |
| 3. | Minnesota Vikings | 9-8 | +375 |
| 4. | Detroit Lions | 9-8 | +155 |
NFC South
The NFC South came down to the last week of the regular season, where the Carolina Panthers eventually pulled it off via tiebreaker. Though three teams finished 8-9, the Panthers finished 3-1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons, while the Bucs finished 2-2 and the Falcons 1-3.
For Carolina to make the playoffs feels like a miracle, given how awful they’ve looked in recent years. The emergence of a two-headed monster at running back in Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle, combined with a more consistent Bryce Young, a star rookie wide receiver in Tet McMillan, and an improved defense has led them to this point. They’ll only get better next year, but they have no chance to win it all this season.
For Tampa Bay to miss the playoffs in a very weak NFC South after Baker Mayfield was an early-season contender to win the MVP is shocking. Leading up to the final game of the season, the Bucs were on an awful 1-7 run, with Bucky Irving, Mike Evans, and other key stars missing serious time with injuries. There’s a lot of uncertainty at the top going into the offseason, most notably whether Mayfield, Evans, and/or head coach Todd Bowles are brought back. They need to figure it out.
Bijan Robinson proved to us once again that he’s one of the best running backs in the NFL, enjoying a spectacular season with nearly 2,300 all-purpose yards and 11 touchdowns. Kyle Pitts had the best season of his career. The Falcons nailed their first-round draft pick in James Pearce Jr., who’s a contender for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Yet the Falcons missed the playoffs and fired head coach Raheem Morris and General Manager Terry Fontenot after an 8-9 season. The franchise is unstable, especially at the quarterback position, where they have rotated through five quarterbacks since Matt Ryan was traded in 2021. They couldn’t convert on third down offensively, they couldn’t stop teams on third down defensively, and their special teams were a nightmare. Perhaps they’ll have a better time next season.
The New Orleans Saints appeared to have the worst team in the NFL on paper before the season started and finished a respectable 6-11. Second-round rookie quarterback Tyler Shough looked fantastic in his last four starts of the season and is in the running to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Whether he’s their franchise quarterback of the future or not is tough to tell, but for the first time in a while, things are looking up in New Orleans.
NFC South Final 2025 Standings
| # | Team | Record | Opening Odds |
| 1. | Carolina Panthers | 8-9 | +425 |
| 2. | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 8-9 | +105 |
| 3. | Atlanta Falcons | 8-9 | +250 |
| 4. | New Orleans Saints | 6-11 | +1500 |
NFC West
Outside of the Arizona Cardinals, the NFC West was the greatest division in football by some distance this season, with three teams finishing with 12 wins or more. To everyone’s total shock, the Seattle Seahawks finished with the best record in the NFC. For the second time in two years with two different teams, quarterback Sam Darnold was phenomenal, throwing for over 4,000 yards. Nearly 1,800 of those yards went to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who’s the front-runner for NFL Offensive Player of the Year. It doesn’t hurt that the Seahawks possess one of the best defenses in football and have stayed healthy all season long.
The Los Angeles Rams could have easily swapped places with the Seahawks atop the NFC but will settle for a 12-5 season. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is one of two players (Drake Maye) who could win the NFL MVP, while Davante Adams, Puka Nacua, and Kyren Williams are one of the most productive offensive trios the NFL has ever seen. While the Rams look practically unbeatable when they’re on their game, their late-season performance against Atlanta has many wondering whether or not this team is ready to win another Super Bowl.
The 49ers should be commended for an unbelievable run this season in the face of adversity. With all the injuries this team has had to battle, on top of Christian McCaffrey coming back from serious injury, this team winning 12 games is incredible. They’ve been banged up all season and they’ll be banged up going into the postseason. Whether or not they’ll have enough grit to carry them to the Super Bowl remains to be seen.
Unfortunately, the Cardinals became the NFC West’s punching bag this season, winning just three games as Kyler Murray and James Conner missed most of the season. It was tough for them to get anything going, and Marvin Harrison Jr. is still performing wildly below expectations. Jacoby Brissett looked pretty good, though.
NFC West Final 2025 Standings:
| # | Team | Record | Opening Odds |
| 1. | Seattle Seahawks | 14-3 | +600 |
| 2. | Los Angeles Rams | 12-5 | +195 |
| 3. | San Francisco 49ers | 12-5 | +165 |
| 4. | Arizona Cardinals | 3-14 | +525 |
Super Bowl Odds
Heading into the playoffs, Super Bowl odds had the NFC regular-season champions, the Seattle Seahawks, as clear favorites. That still rings true ahead of the big game.
It was clear that NFL odds predictions for the Super Bowl were way off for some teams, especially the Seahawks, who were +6000 before the season started. Three of the top five teams in the preseason (Ravens, Chiefs, Lions) missed the postseason entirely.
Current Super Bowl Odds via FanDuel
- Seattle Seahawks -245
- New England Patriots +200

NFL Teams
The NFL has 32 teams split into two conferences of 16 teams, called the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Each of those conferences are divided into four divisions of four teams.
Every NFL team plays a total of 17 games over the course of an 18-week season, meaning every team has one “bye week” each year where they rest. Each team in the NFL plays each of its division rivals twice each season (six division games), while every division faces each team from two selected divisions each year (eight intra-conference games). The final three games a team plays are based on an NFL scheduling formula.

Odds are the foundation of betting, as they detail how much money you can make on a bet. In American-style betting, odds are listed with either a “+” or a “-”. The “-” refers to the favorite, while the “+” refers to the underdog. If a team is listed at +280, then the profit is $280 for every $100 wagered on a winning bet. If a team is listed at -280, then every $280 wagered on a winning bet will result in $100 in profit.
No matter which betting app you decide to go with, you'll find there are several different ways to bet on NFL games. The most popular bet types are:
- Moneyline: Picking the outright winner of the game. The favorite will have a "-" before the number, while the underdog will be listed with a "+" sign.
- Point Spread: A team must win or lose by a set amount of points. If the New York Jets lose by a field goal to the Buffalo Bills, but your ticket has the Jets +3.5, the ticket is a winner.
Example:
If the Packers were 9.5-point favorites against the Saints, they would be listed at -9.5, while the Saints would be listed at +9.5. In this hypothetical example, both the Packers -9.5 and the Saints +9.5 both have -110 odds.
In this case, if you bet on the Packers, they would need to win by 10 points or more for your bet to cash. If you bet on the Saints, they would either have to win or lose by no more than nine points.
Regardless of which side you chose, you would receive $100 in profit for every $110 wagered.
- Totals: Also referred to as the over/under. This is a wager on the total combined score between the two teams. Sportsbooks will post a number, and bettors will select whether they think the total number of points scored will go over or under that number.
Example:
If the over/under of a game between the Packers and Saints was listed at 44.5, you would get to choose between “O 44.5” or “U 44.5”. In this hypothetical example, both the over and under are both listed at -110.
In this case, if you bet the over and the final score was 31-20, your bet would win, as both teams combined to score 51 points.
Beyond the basic wagering markets, bettors will also find NFL odds for parlays, teasers, and props.
- Parlay: This is when a bettor combines multiple wagers into one bet. For instance taking the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and Cincinnati Bengals to win their games. Each leg/individual bet must be a winner. If the Ravens and Bengals win, but the 49ers lose, the parlay ticket will be graded as a loss.
Example:
Leg 1: Buffalo Bills -5.5 (-110); (1.91)
Leg 2: Packers-Saints Over 44.5 (-110); (1.91)
Leg 3: Carolina Panthers ML (+235); (3.35)
1.91 x 1.91 x 3.35 = 12.22
Even though this parlay has two toss-ups and one slightly heavy underdog, combining these three legs into one parlay would send the odds soaring to +1122. This means the profit would be $1,122 on a $100 bet (a $1,222 total payout) if all three legs won.
If you bet on these three results individually (straight bets), this would be your potential profit on a $100 bet:
Leg 1: Buffalo Bills -5.5 (-110) → $90.91
Leg 2: Packers-Saints Over 44.5 (-110) → $90.91
Leg 3: Carolina Panthers ML (+235) → $235
Total potential profit: $416.82
- Teaser: This is when a bettor buys or sells points from the sportsbook. If the Dallas Cowboys are -3.5 versus the New York Giants and the Buffalo Bills are -1 against the New York Jets, you could tease the lines to Cowboys +6.5 and Buffalo +3.5.
- Props: Prop bets offer gamblers a unique NFL wagering opportunity to bet on something not tied to the final score or outcome of the game. An example of this would be a running back's rushing yards. In many cases, the outcome is decided before time expires.
- Futures: NFL futures bets are long-term bets that are based on outcomes that happen later in the season. Typically, people bet on season-long win totals, Super Bowl winners, division winners, statistical leaders, and end-of-season awards, amongst others. What makes futures betting attractive is that the earlier and less obvious an outcome is, the higher the price. In a real-world example from the 2025 NFL season, Drake Maye was listed on many sportsbooks at +5000 or worse to be the NFL MVP in the preseason. Around Week 4, his odds were as high as +10000. Currently, he’s +175 to win MVP.
- NFL Live Betting: Live betting is a relatively new concept that has taken off since the introduction of online sportsbooks. NFL live betting allows you to bet on outcomes while a game is already in progress. NFL daily lines will continuously change based on many factors, such as the weather, the action, injuries, and more.
NFL futures
Pro football bettors don’t just wager on specific games. There are a plethora of NFL futures available to bet on during the season as well as the off-season. An NFL futures bet is a wager on an event that won't happen right away, like which team will win the Super Bowl.
Smart bettors will like to place a futures bet if they believe a sportsbook has a team that has drafted several new players that significantly strengthen their roster. Bettors will have to be patient, but so often we have seen big-priced teams lift trophies - and so it's always a wise decision to place your bet early and wait if you notice an opportunity.
There are many other NFL futures markets in addition to Super Bowl odds. Some of the more popular pro football betting futures markets include:
- NFL Win Totals
- NFL Playoffs odds
- NFL MVP odds
- NFL Rookie of the Year odds
- NFL Division Winner odds
- NFL Draft odds
National Football League Props Explained
One of the most exciting ways to bet on NFL games is still player props. The bets are based on how well a player does, like how many passing yards a quarterback gets, whether a running back breaks a certain rushing threshold, or whether a receiver makes a certain number of catches or receiving yards.
What is on the prop board?
Recent lines from big sportsbooks like DraftKings, FanDuel, bet365, BetMGM, Caesars, and Hard Rock Bet show a full slate of prop markets:
- All skill-position players' passing yards, rushing yards, and receiving yards.
- Touchdown props include "anytime TD," "first-score props," and "number of total TDs per player."
- Defensive/stat-based props include sacks, interceptions, turnovers, and touchdowns scored by the defense.
Consider incorporating more niche props such as longest play, combined yards, and return yards, particularly when the matchup or weather forecast indicates potential volatility.
Recent Events and Why Props Are Changing
In a recent game, the Buffalo Bills quarterback threw for 436 yards, scored multiple touchdowns, and ran for 84 yards with two rushing touchdowns. The performance has put his combined-yards and anytime-scorer props in the spotlight.
After his quarterback got hurt, Justin Jefferson's (Vikings) receiving-yards prop line dropped a lot for Week 13. Still, many bettors and analysts backed Over because of his talent and role.
On the defensive side, big plays and turnovers can make people more interested in defensive props. Sacks and interceptions, for example, tend to change based on injury reports, matchups, and recent form.
Why Props Are the Best Choice This Season
Bettors have a lot more options with prop bets than with game-outcome bets. Because prop odds are usually posted a few days before games, there is more time to respond to changes in the weather, injuries, matchups, and lineups.
For instance, the passing-yard prop for a quarterback might start at 250.5 yards. If a lot of people bet or the weather changes, the line could move. A few yards can make a big difference for people who are looking for value.
Props also create more flexibility in betting, shifting the focus from the game result to individual performance. The structure makes player props ideal for same-game parlays or for spreading risk across multiple matchups.
How NFL Odds Change
There are many reasons why NFL odds change. Understanding these factors helps bettors identify favorable lines and avoid unfavorable ones.
Below are the main reasons why lines move.
Injuries
The most important thing is injuries to quarterbacks. A change at quarterback can move the spread by a few points. Injuries to wide receivers, cornerbacks, and linemen are also important. Even small injuries can change totals and props.
Weekly odds pages keep track of all major injury news.
Quick Action
When sharp bettors hit early lines, they move numbers. Books quickly change their lines when they see large or well-known bets. Big moves frequently reveal where sharp action landed in the first hour after lines open.
Conditions
The wind has the biggest effect. Strong winds can lower totals and make props less likely to pass. Heavy rain can make it tougher to score. Snow makes traction harder, but it doesn't affect scoring as much as people think.
Rest and Travel
Teams don't like short weeks. Long travel spots can change the spreads. Games on Monday or overseas cut down on prep time.
Betting in Public
Usually, public bettors change the lines late in the week. In close proximity to kickoff, books occasionally alter the numbers to balance their risk.
Matchups
Most people don't think matchups matter as much as they do. For instance:
- Weak run defense means more points.
- A strong pass rush means lower implied scores.
- More points for fast offenses
- Strong secondary means lower passing props.
When matchups go one way, books change the odds.
Power Rankings
Each sportsbook gives teams grades based on their ratings as numbers change every week. When ratings change, spreads and totals move too.
