FanDuel Sportsbook Betting Guide

New customers to FanDuel Sportsbook may find themselves in uncharted territory. Perhaps you are unfamiliar with online sportsbooks in general or you have given a different operator the all or most of your business.

In that case, TheLines has prepared a brief guide for setting up your account and getting your FanDuel Sportsbook journey started.

First keep in mind that before you can place a single wager via computer, you need to download the GeoComply plug-in for your computer. FanDuel Sportsbook has the relevant links, and you’ll be prompted to install it at some point during the registration process.

It’s crucial you allow GeoComply to access your location. This is a necessary step for legal online sportsbooks to allow you to bet with them. FanDuel Sportsbook operates in 15 states and their geotracking must locate you within the bounds of one of these states before they’ll accept your wager.

On your phone with the FanDuel Sportsbook mobile app, you’ll simply need to enable the app to track your location.

How to Sign Up

With that out of the way, head to FanDuel’s main page. There, you’ll find two main options: “fantasy sports” and “sports betting.” Click the latter. Then click the state where you’re registering the account. If you’re not located in a legal state, you’re still allowed to make an account and bet with FanDuel Sportsbook. You just have to do it when you are physically located in a legal jurisdiction. For example, I do most of my FanDuel betting in Iowa even though I live in Nebraska.

You need your email, a username you’ll select and a password. One box may prompt you for a FanDuel Sportsbook bonus code, but remember that as long as you register via the link above, you don’t need one to take advantage of the FanDuel sign-up offer.

Be advised FanDuel Sportsbook will prompt you to change the password every now and then for your own security. Once you’ve verified your email and jumped through all the necessary hoops, you’re ready to start betting.

FanDuel Event of The Week Odds

Betting on the NBA is incredibly popular and FanDuel has ample prop bet options and odds boost for this season. Check out FD lines for today’s NBA games below.

Best FanDuel Sportsbook Promos of The Week

Looking for a FanDuel Sportsbook bonus? There are plenty up for grabs. Beyond the big FanDuel promo code above, customers can take advantage of several other promos each week.

Get bonus bets: FanDuel runs a variety of promotions, sometimes even awarding bonus bets. For example, during the NFL’s Wild Card Weekend, if you make at least $200 in same-game parlays you received $100 in FanDuel Sportsbook bonus bets.

FanDuel Sportsbook Review

So, you’ve made your FanDuel Sportsbook account, being sure to use the best FanDuel promo code when funding your account.

Now, how does FanDuel compare to other online betting offerings? What promo options are available? Which sports can you bet at FanDuel and how can you bet on them? The possibilities are honestly limitless, but we’ll run through a few key pieces of info that should give you a primer.

FanDuel User Interface / Design

On the FanDuel Sportsbook mobile app, you’ll first notice the top navigation menu. This features popular sports, promotions and a quick nav to the available live betting markets.

If you don’t see the sport you want to bet, look toward the bottom. Press “All Sports” and from there you’ll find a large menu of available sports. If you want to bet basketball, simply press the corresponding link and you’ll be taken to the basketball markets page. Once there, use the top nav bar to specify what sort of basketball you’re looking to bet – college, NBA, WNBA, etc. Swipe along if you don’t see what you’re looking for – there are more options than fit the screen in many cases.

On the website, depending on window size, the initial sports menu with all sports can typically be found on the left-hand side of the screen. Once you select a sport, the interface looks basically identical to the app. Again, use the top nav to get to the various submenus and help narrow down the options.

Reading the game markets is easy. For sports that traditionally employ handicaps, the handicap for each team will post on the left-hand side, followed by the moneylines, then the total.

Once you’ve selected a bet, your bet slip appears at the bottom of the screen on the app or on the right on desktop. Select multiple bets to build a parlay – that option will sit right below the individual bets on your slip. If it’s a FanDuel Sportsbook same game parlay you want, simply find the relevant game and click the small “More Wagers” link beneath it. You’ll find same game parlays in the submenu.

Overall, FanDuel Sportsbook has one of the cleaner, simpler navigation systems. It can be annoying that it takes several clicks to get to the markets you want, but just remember sports > leagues > select the league you want to bet. It certainly helps that the app and desktop interfaces provide seamless transitions since they look and behave so similarly.

FanDuel Betting Markets

As a sportsbook with an international ownership group – parent company Flutter owns brands like Sky Betting & Gaming and Paddy Power – it’s no surprise FanDuel Sportsbook offers both a wide and deep array of betting options.

Markets offered range from prominent U.S. leagues like the NFL and NBA to Aussie rules football and Challenger Tour tennis. Even within a sport like basketball, FanDuel Sportsbook offers bets on leagues from New Zealand and Canada.

FanDuel offers a full array of futures markets as well, updating divisional and conference futures for weekly examination. You can also bet on all of the major awards, from the prestigious Heisman Trophy to the NBA’s Most Improved Player.

Props abound as well. Again, click “More Wagers” under the major markets for a given game to open up a full prop menu.

Keep in mind when using FanDuel Sportsbook that certain bets may not be available in certain jurisdictions. See state-by-state info below for more details.

FanDuel Promotions

Like any good sportsbook, the discussion of FanDuel promotions begins with the FanDuel sign-up bonus. We’ve already run through that FanDuel Sportsbook promo code above, and it’s worth mentioning again that you don’t even need a FanDuel promo code to take advantage of the $2,500 sign-up offer.

For returning customers, they’ll want to frequently check in on current FanDuel Sportsbook promos, and there’s an easy way to do so. Right up at the top of the app, underneath the FanDuel Sportsbook logo, you’ll find a small “Promos” button right next to the “Live Now” betting submenu. You can find the same button on the left-hand side of the website, or simply click “Promotions” at the top menu next to “Home” and “My Bets.”

Weekly and current promotions will be listed here. Click each one to see if you have to opt in and how to go about taking advantage.

If it’s an odds boost you’re looking for, “Boosts” is its own similar page right next to “Promos” on the menu. Find current FanDuel Sportsbook odds boosts there to help increase your potential payouts, but be sure to research each one thoroughly to be certain you’re really gaining value. Some boosts add little to nothing compared with a regular bet or parlay.

FanDuel Support

FanDuel offers a multi-pronged support for answering customer queries and concerns. First, you can peruse the company FAQ to see if they have an answer posted for you there. If you still need help, you can try a few options.

In the bottom right corner of the support website – asking for support on the app takes you to the web – you’ll find the option to live chat with an agent. They may have the ability to walk you through whatever issue you’re experiencing.

Otherwise, a support email will enable you to ask a specific question. Response times vary, though. It may actually be quicker to reach them on Twitter @FanDuel_Support. They seem to respond within a few hours in most cases.

FanDuel Banking Options

Of course, using FanDuel Sportsbook for betting means you need to get real money on there. Luckily, they have an incredible array of deposit options. Basically, if you have inclination to get money on FanDuel, they have an easy way for you to do so.

Keep in mind that not all deposit options are available in all states. Local regulations may limit your options. But, here are some of the easy ways to fund your FanDuel Sportsbook account:

  • Online bank transfer
  • Paypal/Venmo
  • Debit card
  • Cast at affiliated retail sportsbook

Withdrawal options will generally look similar. FanDuel can also send you a physical check in the mail. Be aware that several options for FanDuel Sportsbook cashouts will take at least 24 hours or up to several business days. So plan ahead if you need the cash.

FanDuel Sportsbook State Guide

At the time of writing, FanDuel Sportsbook operates in 18 states: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Each state has some of its own rules and regulations that may impact how FanDuel works there. We’ll discuss some of those here and list the local retail partners. If you’re interested in depositing in person, call these shops ahead of time as not all of them offer this service.

FanDuel Arizona

Arizona does feature one notable distinction in sports betting offerings: the state disallows prop betting on college sports. Other than that, you should find a full slate of betting options on FanDuel Sportsbook Arizona.

Locally, the team has partnered with the Phoenix Suns. You can find a FanDuel Sportsbook retail shop at the Footprint Center.

FanDuel Colorado

Only a small niche of bettors will find anything amiss among the FanDuel Sportsbook Colorado options. You can’t bet on esports there.

FanDuel has done plenty of work lining up local partners. They’re paired with Bally’s Black Hawk West on the casino side of things, and no less than four OTB parlors have affiliation with FanDuel.

FanDuel Connecticut

Connecticut restricts wagering on in-state college teams pretty heavily. You can only bet on them in a futures market when involved in multi-team tournaments (min. four participants).

Perhaps even more quirky is the geolocation. In order to bet FanDuel Sportsbook Connecticut online, you’ll need to make sure you’re not on Mashantucket Pequot land (they’re partnered with rival DraftKings). FanDuel has paired with popular East Coast casino Mohegan Sun.

FanDuel Iowa

Iowa prohibits player prop betting on in-state college teams. Additionally, even prop markets for pro sports are restricted to certain types of offerings – as a rule of thumb, betting on negative outcomes like an interception isn’t allowed. Awards and draft markets are also not offered. You also won’t find markets for “non-premier” leagues like NBA G League and the ATP Challenger Tour. Generally, you will just find a more limited menu.

Diamond Jo Casino, with two locations in the state, serves as the local partner for FanDuel Sportsbook.

FanDuel Illinois

The main drawback to betting FanDuel Sportsbook Illinois is that you can’t make wagers on games involving Illinois college teams. Illinois has several schools playing at the top level of college sports, including Northwestern and Illinois, so these will be omitted from the menu.

Locally, FanDuel Sportsbook has partnered with Par-A-Dice Casino and also operates FanDuel Sportsbook And Horse Racing out of Collinsville.

FanDuel Indiana

Much like Colorado, you’ll find FanDuel Sportsbook Indiana offering basically the full width of markets, excepting esports.

FanDuel has online partnerships and retail books at Belterra Casinos Resort and Blue Chip Casino.

FanDuel Kansas

Online sports betting launched in Kansas on September 1, 2022. FanDuel was there on day one, thanks to a partnership with Boyd Gaming and the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvaney.

FanDuel Louisiana

Like Connecticut, Louisiana has some more involved geolocation than your average state. The state’s sports betting law called for individual parishes (like counties) to pass or disallow sports betting. Nine of the 64 parishes passed it. That means there are nine parishes where you can’t bet. Additionally, you can’t bet on land controlled by several tribes.

FanDuel Sportsbook has several land-based partnerships, with retail agreements with five casinos: Amelia Belle Casino, Delta Downs, Evangeline Downs, Sams Town Shreveport and Treasure Chest Casino.

FanDuel Maryland

Online sports betting launched in Maryland on November 23, 2022, and FanDuel was included in the first wave of operators to go live.

FanDuel also has a retail sportsbook located at LIVE! Casino Maryland in Hanover.

FanDuel Massachusetts

FanDuel Sportsbook launched in Massachusetts on Friday, March 10. Sign up with FanDuel Massachusetts and claim a Bet $5, Get $200 in bonus bets welcome bonus.

FanDuel Michigan

Michigan has one of the less restrictive systems, so you’ll find basically the full wagering menu at FanDuel Sportsbook there.

FanDuel has struck a partnership with MotorCity Casino, one of the three major retail casinos in Detroit.

FanDuel New Jersey

The original FanDuel Sportsbook landing spot at the state that opened the doors. While you can find most sports betting options in New Jersey, this is another state that doesn’t allow betting on in-state college programs. In fact, any college event held in the state at all won’t find its way to FanDuel Sportsbook, which can create a headache if, for example, an NCAA basketball tournament game takes place there.

Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment and Golden Nugget Atlantic City have agreements with FanDuel Sportsbook.

FanDuel New York

The New York regulations look somewhat similar to those found in Iowa, oddly enough. Again, you won’t be able to wager on in-state college teams. Also like Iowa, awards betting is quite restrictive – anything that involves a vote is off the board. You won’t find any esports markets either.

Another issue in New York is they have a very high tax rate. Therefore, the promos you find may not be as generous as those in other states.

Tioga Downs Casino Resort hosts a FanDuel Sportsbook in New York.

FanDuel Ohio

FanDuel went live in Ohio on New Year’s Day 2023. You can sign up with FanDuel Sportsbook in Ohio and claim a welcome bonus for new users, no FanDuel Ohio bonus code is required.

21+ and present in OH. Gambling Problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER

FanDuel Pennsylvania

Only athletic events make the cut in Pennsylvania, which means the main restrictions come on betting on things like the NFL and NBA drafts.

Valley Forge Casino serves as one of FanDuel Sportsbook’s Pennsylvania partners, as do the Live! properties in Philly and Pittsburgh.

FanDuel Tennessee

Tennessee has some quirky laws that make things a bit weird for sports bettors. Niche bettors who love in-game college props will find themselves empty-handed here. But much more concerning for many bettors is the state law that requires operators to hold 10% of the handle. Those looking for odds boosts and other betting promotions may find the menu a little lighter than those in other states, as these represent potentially +EV opportunities that could harm FanDuel Sportsbook’s standing with regulators.

Since Tennessee betting is entirely mobile, FanDuel does not have a local retail partnership.

FanDuel Virginia

Virginia features some restrictions that will shrink the menu on FanDuel Sportsbook. The most noticeable for most bettors will be lack of in-game betting on college sports. Additionally, you can’t bet on in-state college teams and awards markets.

Like Tennessee, local retail partnerships aren’t a thing in Virginia.

FanDuel West Virginia

West Virginia doesn’t have many restrictions at all on sports betting. Even esports betting is allowed so long as participants are all 18 and older.

FanDuel Sportsbook has a retail presence via the partnership with The Greenbrier Resort.

FanDuel Wyoming

Wyoming features a pretty open sports betting law, so FanDuel Sportsbook there will offer nearly a full range of options. Only sporting events are permitted, however.

As with Tennessee and Virginia, betting in Wyoming is mobile-only, so FanDuel doesn’t have a retail shop or partner.

FanDuel FAQs

Yes, betting with FanDuel Sportsbook is perfectly legal as long as you’re located within a regulated state (AZ, CO, IL, IN, IA, KS, LA, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TN, VA, WV & WY). FanDuel has gone through the licensing process in every state in which it operates.

Is FanDuel Sportsbook safe?

Betting with FanDuel Sportsbook is quite safe. You don’t have to worry about your money there. Again, regulators have thoroughly vetted FanDuel. Furthermore, with the backing of ownership group Flutter, FanDuel has an experienced sports trading team behind it, one that has been doing business for decades in Europe.

Where can I play on FanDuel Sportsbook?

FanDuel Sportsbook operates in the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming. With just a few exceptions, you can bet with FanDuel Sportsbook online anywhere within these states’ borders.

In addition to the FanDuel Sportsbook app, you can also bet with FanDuel at live retail sportsbooks across the country. Check your local options to see if FanDuel has any live books in your state.

What’s the best FanDuel Sportsbook promo code for June 6, 2023?

Currently, you don’t need a FanDuel promo code to access the best FanDuel bonus. Get up to $2,500 in FanDuel bonus money as part of the “no sweat first bet” promo by simply signing up for a new FanDuel account via the links on this page.

Is there an age requirement at FanDuel Sportsbook?

Generally speaking, while legal betting age can change from state to state, you need to be 21 in order to play at FanDuel Sportsbook. The sign-up process involves age and identity verification to ensure users comply with FanDuel’s terms and conditions.

Should I use the FanDuel Sportsbook mobile app or the FanDuel website?

This mostly comes down to personal preference. The two experiences are quite similar, as the FanDuel team has done a good job porting over the FanDuel interface to the app. If you’re on the go often, you’ll find yourself using the app more often. If you’re frequently sitting at a desk, you’ll probably use the desktop version more often. Either way, FanDuel Sportsbook provides a very positive user experience.

Can I bet with FanDuel Sportsbook through my old FanDuel fantasy sports app?

No, which may be why some fantasy sports aficionados will prefer the web experience. You can more easily toggle back and forth between the sportsbook and the DFS lobby there. On mobile, you ‘ll be swapping between two separate apps.

Does FanDuel Sportsbook have a rewards program?

No. FanDuel Sportsbook does give back to its customers via things like promos and odds boosts, but there’s no loyalty program like on the DFS app.

What responsible gaming options are available on FanDuel Sportsbook?

FanDuel Sportsbook’s account settings page offers numerous responsible gaming tools to help you manage your betting.

A transaction history logs all of your deposit and withdrawal activity – both in sports betting and DFS – from the moment of the account’s creation. A simple tracker in the top right will also show your “career stats” to make this readily available.

Additionally, under “Responsible Gaming” you can set betting limits, time limits, give yourself a temporary account freeze, or enter into the self-exclusion program.

Does FanDuel Sportsbook offer live betting?

Yes, FanDuel Sportsbook has a ton of live betting options for sporting events happening around the world. Use the “Live Now” button for instant access to these markets, and be quick with your bets because the lines move much faster than pregame markets.

Can I bet same-game parlays at FanDuel Sportsbook?

Yes, FanDuel Sportsbook was one of the market pioneers in the now ultra-popular same-game parlays. Simply navigate to the game you wish to use for the same game parlay and then click “More Wagers” to start building your bet.

How do taxes work on FanDuel Sportsbook?

FanDuel sends out a W-2G to the address you have on file with them. Additionally, you can get these documents emailed in PDF form. How secure is my FanDuel Sportsbook account?

FanDuel will frequently prompt you to change your password for security purposes, and they log you out of your account after some amount of time spent on site. You can also enable two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security.

Can I fund my FanDuel Sportsbook account with PayPal?

Yes, both PayPal and Venmo are available as options for depositing funds into FanDuel Sportsbook.

FanDuel Sportsbook made a mistake grading my bet. How do I get my winnings/money back?

First, be sure to thoroughly read over your bet slip. It’s possible you made a mistake or misread the market. In such cases, there’s nothing to be done. Make sure to also read over the terms and conditions about your bet type. In some cases, bets may be canceled at the operator’s discretion.

If you’re still certain FanDuel has erred, it’s time to contact support. FanDuel offers numerous avenues through which to contact customer service. An agent can hopefully then walk you through the situation and get it sorted if a mistake was indeed made.

If you’re still adamant FanDuel has unjustly held your money, and support can’t or won’t help, you’ll need to contact the local regulatory body. You can raise a dispute with them and hopefully get things solved.

FanDuel Future States

FanDuel California

California has long remained the white whale of legal online betting in the United States. With its massive population, high income levels and established live gambling culture, California could one day generate betting revenue that dwarfs that of any other state.

Alas, the ongoing lobbying war – going on for about 10 years now – remains in motion.

Some hope has arrived in 2022 with an online betting initiative making its way to California’s November voting ballot. That could clear the way for FanDuel California to become a thing.

FanDuel Florida

Like California, Florida remains an elusive target for proponents of legal, regulated online gambling. Online sports betting was briefly up and running in 2021 before a court case put the kibosh on it.

FanDuel was among the companies behind a ballot initiative that would have legalized online betting in Florida, but it went nowhere. Hopes for FanDuel Florida will have to wait.
