Zozo Championship Odds: Tiger Woods Looking To Defend Crown

Zozo Championship odds golf Tiger Woods

Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California is the rescheduled location for this year’s Zozo Championship as the PGA Tour moved the Japan-based event due to COVID-19.

An abundance of international representation and a star-studded 78-player field make up the 2020 event including the defending Zozo champion, Tiger Woods.

The “Sherwood” is a signature Jack Nicklaus redesigned course that has been part of the Champions Tour since 2016. Tiger hosted the PGA Tour’s Hero World Challenge from 2000-2013 at Sherwood Country Club. Woods won the event five times and finished runner-up five times, but the redesigned course is somewhat different from those years with the 2016 restoration tweaking and modernizing the course.

Notable golfers in the Zozo Championship

Most of the top names in golf are playing in Thousand Oaks for the Zozo Championship. Tiger Woods will be playing in his first tournament since missing the cut at last month’s US Open. Woods is currently ranked No. 26 in the world, and No. 15 Adam Scott will also be playing in his first event since the US Open. Woods has 82 PGA Tour wins in a field that has 54 PGA Tour winners, 14 major champions and 351 total PGA Tour titles.

Dustin Johnson committed to play in the Zozo Championship but missed this past week’s CJ Cup at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas after testing positive for COVID-19. It is not yet confirmed that he will tee it up at Sherwood this week but because he first started showing symptoms back on Oct. 11, he may get the green-light if he is no longer showing symptoms and tests negative.

Committed players from the top-10 in the 2019-20 FedExCup Standings include:

  • 1. Dustin Johnson
  • 2. Xander Schauffele
  • 2. Justin Thomas

  • 5. Scottie Scheffler
  • 6. Collin Morikawa

The PGA Tour goes from the 78-player event at stunning Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas for The CJ Cup to the magnificent views and beauty surrounding Sherwood Country Club.

“There isn’t another golf course in the world that has a more beautiful tree complex than Sherwood,” course designer Jack Nicklaus has said about his masterpiece that provides majestic views of the Santa Monica Mountains and the Hidden Valley below.

There are waterfalls, running streams, and unique rock formations that echo the aesthetically rich natural environment of Sherwood Valley and tranquil Lake Sherwood. Every tee box affords a breathtaking view, and fairways are luxuriously studded with groves of magnificent oak, willow, and sycamore trees.

The back nine features three Par 3s, Par 4s and Par 5s. Many holes in the 2016 redesign had shifts in the positioning of bunkers and the size of sand traps, changes in green contours and green angles.
