Yankees Guardians Odds

After Aaron Judge and Co. won the opener, the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians will continue their best-of-seven series on Tuesday night. The first pitch is set for 7:38 p.m. ET (TBS), with right-handers Gerrit Cole and Tanner Bibee squaring off. Let’s examine the odds of the Yankees vs. Guardians in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series, including my best bet.

ALCS Game 2 odds: Yankees vs. guardians moneyline, spread, total

These are the best odds available in your state.

Bibee’s (Unknown) Leash

Although Cleveland has emerged victorious in each of Bibee’s postseason starts, his stuff hasn’t been sharp. The Guardians’ sophomore ace has shown poor fastball command, notching eight called strikes on 53 fastballs. The Tigers’ offense failed to cash in during the ALDS, but the Yankees are a different story.

New York’s chase rate is the lowest across MLB. Its plate discipline was on display in Game 1, as Anthony Volpe drew a third-inning walk to load the bases before reliever Joey Cantillo threw a pair of wild pitches that scored two runs.

Oddly enough, Bibee was not plagued by control issues in the regular season. His 6.2% walk rate settled in the 61st percentile among qualified starters. Nevertheless, the postseason is a different animal. Cleveland’s dominant bullpen is also well-rested, so Bibee could get pulled quickly if the Yankees cause some early distress.

They’ve clobbered fastballs, Bibee’s primary pitch type. However, his slider (plus-15 run value) is the key. New York’s weighted on-base average (wOBA) settles just inside the top 10 against this pitch.

Given the Yankees’ offensive prowess, bettors are unlikely to flinch at this rating. But considering their bats don’t grade poorly in most circumstances, it should be accounted for.

Yankees vs. Guardians Odds: Best Bet

I’m skeptical of trusting Bibee, but Cole’s 16.3% strikeout rate through two playoff games is worth noting. The Guardians could hang around if his stuff isn’t as deceiving as Carlos Rodon’s, inducing a Yankee postseason-record 25 whiffs in Game 1.

Moreover, New York utilized all its best bullets from the bullpen on Monday evening. With that in mind, I wagered a half-unit on Cleveland’s moneyline odds. Per the table above, the best odds are currently Cleveland Guardians +148 on BetRivers.
