The Houston Astros are hotter than the summer weather. The official first day of summer arrived Sunday, June 20, and the Astros won their ninth straight game Tuesday night to run their record to 16-4 in June. Houston furniture store owner Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale has taken notice and decided to make another home run bet on his home town Astros at +1000 odds to win the World Series. Mattress Mack bets are nothing new, but his latest, $2 million to net a win of $20 million, could be historic.
“It’s very cool that William Hill took that large of a futures bet,” McIngvale said. “Kudos for Caesars for stepping up and taking a big bet on the William Hill Sportsbook App. I’ve done a lot of bets with William Hill, and they’ve always been great to me. The execution has always been great.”
Mattress Mack also got better odds last Friday when he went to Colorado and made a $250,000 win wager at DraftKings Sportsbook and $100,000 bet at theScore. Both bets on the Astros were made at +1600 odds, and reports are that McIngvale now has more than $3 million riding on the Astros to win the World Series.

Mattress Mack Monster Bets
Mattress Mack has been swinging for the fences since placing a $5 million bet on the Astros to win the World Series in 2019. That bet was made at two sportsbook locations just prior to the World Series with DraftKings Sportsbook taking a $3.5 million bet at +220 odds at a Mississippi casino in Biloxi, and McIngvale then flying to New Jersey to bet another $1.5 million at FanDuel Sportsbook at the same +220 odds.
The Astros were favored throughout that season to win the World Series, but lost to the longshot Washington Nationals in seven games.
Mattress Mack covers the bases by making huge sports bets to hedge and manage his risk on his furniture promotions he offers customers who purchase mattresses at his stores. His “Astros Win” promotion starts today, June 23 for customers who purchase mattresses of $3,000 or more at his Houston area Gallery Furniture stores. Those customers get their money back if the Astros win the 2021 World Series.
McIngvale started making the large bets in 2017 at Las Vegas sportsbooks, and now makes them more often on mobile apps in states that allow legal sports betting and sportsbooks willing to take the bets and risk.
