The USWNT opened up Group E stage play with a 3-0 victory over Vietnam, a match that left a bit to be desired. They followed that up with a 1-1 draw against their biggest group competitor in Netherlands. At 1-1-0 (soccer records put the draw second and loses third), the USWNT still leads Group E thanks to a better goal differential than the Netherlands. Their odds to secure a group win are lined at , which will be determined on their next match. So long as the USWNT maintains their goal differential lead, Group E is theirs.

Portugal lost 1-0 to Netherlands but rebounded and beat Vietnam 2-0 in their first two games. A loss Tuesday night to the U.S. would eliminate them from moving on.

Lindsey Horan notched her third USWNT goal in the 62nd minute against the Netherlands to tie it up. Horan and Sophia Smith have two goals apiece in the World Cup so far, but Mallory Swanson has seven goals on record in their 10 matches so far.
