WNBA Championship Odds and Picks for August 2026: Lynx, Aces Frontrunners for Title

We’re in the stretch run of the WNBA regular season, which draws to a close on Sept. 24. That means we’re five weeks out from the end of the regular season, with the postseason getting underway on September 27. The top eight teams make the postseason field, regardless of conference affiliation.
Entering Tuesday, two of the league’s 15 teams had clinched playoff berths. The Minnesota Lynx (29-7) and the defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces (24-12), are in the field, regardless of what unfolds the rest of the way. Meanwhile, the Connecticut Sun (8-25) and Seattle Storm (7-30) are eliminated from postseason contention. With that said, let’s take a look at the WNBA championship odds, courtesy of DraftKings.

WNBA Championship Betting Favorites
Really, if we’re going to talk about the favorites to win the title this season, it’s pretty much a two-team field with the Lynx and the Aces.
Minnesota Lynx, Even
While Minnesota hasn’t won the title since 2017, the Lynx are prohibitive favorites for a reason. They finished with the league’s top record in both 2024 and 2025. In addition, they are primed to make it three straight years as the top team in the league during the regular season.
Minnesota is second in the league in scoring offense (92.6 ppg) and third in scoring defense (83.8 ppg) this year. The Lynx have five players averaging in double figures and lead the league in three-point shooting (39.4%). With Napheesa Collier, Kayla McBride, and Olivia Miles leading the way, the Lynx are a tough out.
Las Vegas Aces, +450
Vegas is the current dynasty in the league. The Aces have won three of the last four titles, including last season’s crown. Vegas is third in the league in scoring with 90.6 ppg, though their defense (sixth at 87.1 ppg allowed) has been suspect at times. With A’ja Wilson patrolling the low block along with a supporting cast that includes Jewell Loyd, Chelsea Gray, and Jackie Young, the Aces are going to put up a fight. In addition, the Aces have Becky Hammon, who has maximized her team's potential since taking the reins from Bill Laimbeer.

There are three other teams going off at better than 10/1 odds, as the Valkyries, Fever, and Dream comprise that group. While each of those teams could contend, they each have flaws that could derail them.
Indiana Fever, +950
Indiana has the league’s best offense (96.2 ppg) and is led by the dynamic Caitlin Clark. Sophie Cunningham isn’t afraid to do the dirty work while Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell provide an inside/outside combination. Meanwhile, the Fever’s problem is that they struggle to stop anyone. They are 12th in the league in scoring defense, allowing 90.3 points a game. In the playoffs, points are harder to come by. Can the Fever do enough defensively to hold off the opposition?
Golden State Valkyries, +800
Golden State has the opposite problem of the Fever. The Valkyries have won more games this season, with five weeks to go, than they did in their inaugural campaign, when they were a surprising 23-21. They are a weak offensive squad, ranking 12th in scoring offense (83.5 ppg) and 15th in field goal percentage (42.7%) for the year. However, they lead the league in threes per game with 10.8 per contest. On the flip side, Golden State leads the WNBA in scoring defense by holding opponents to 76.9 points a night. They have to be concerned about generating enough offense against the league’s better teams, or at least enough that their defense can bail them out.
Atlanta Dream, +850
Atlanta improved once Karl Smesko took over the reins last season, and it’s carried over. The Dream won 30 games in the regular season a year ago, snapping a six-year losing streak. Meanwhile, with a 21-13 mark, Atlanta seems poised for back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2011-12. The Dream is above average on both ends of the floor, ranking fifth in scoring offense and fourth in scoring defense. However, they don’t shoot the ball well, ranking 12th in field goal percentage (43.4%) and 13th in three-point shooting (31.7%) for the year. A cold snap in the playoffs may spell an early exit.
