Spring has sprung in the sports world as The Masters and NCAA men’s basketball championship game take center stage this week. Here is a look at those events and other top sporting events on tap.
NCAA Tournament championship: Monday
This year’s NCAA Tournament has had no shortage of drama – from a larger-than-usual pool of upsets, to Jalen Suggs’ heroics in the Final Four, it’s been a tournament to remember. After all of the upsets and runs by teams like 11-seed UCLA, the last two teams standing are college basketball’s undisputed two best. Gonzaga opened as 4.5-point favorites in the contest, with an over/under set at a lofty 159.5 points. Including Suggs, this game is packed with stars like Jared Butler and Drew Timme.
Jazz vs Suns: Wednesday
Two of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season square off in Phoenix. The Jazz are the Western Conference’s top team, followed by the Suns – who are 3.5 games back of the top overall seed. With time expiring on the regular season, these two teams continue to vie for that coveted top spot. Devin Booker (25.6 points per game) and Donovan Mitchell (25.6 points per game) sit back-to-back in the scoring standings. Despite being slated as just a midweek regular season game, expect this one to be as electric as it is telling of each of the teams.
The Masters: Thursday – Sunday
No weekend in golf quite reaches the level of grandeur and tradition as the Masters. Dustin Johnson (+900) is the favorite to take home the green jacket this year, followed by Justin Thomas (+1000), Jordan Spieth (+1100), Bryson DeChambeau (+1100), and Jon Rahm (+1200). Speith has risen quickly up odds tables lately after over a year of relative absence from leaderboards. Spieth comes in hot after winning the Valero Texas Open. Other notable golfers in the field include Brooks Koepka (+2500), Patrick Reed (+2800), and Lee Westwood (+3000).
