Week 13 NFL Underdogs: Are Seahawks, Steelers Worth Spread, Teaser Bets?

Written By Eli Hershkovich on December 5, 2021

Typically, my NFL card is made up of a few picks against the spread. Underdogs were slightly profitable over the last go-around, finishing 8-7 ATS. Nevertheless, the betting market hasn’t gifted us with valuable options this time. So how should we approach Week 13 NFL underdogs? Let’s aim for a different route — teasers.

You’ll find all of my favorite options below, and be sure to keep up with all of the line movement throughout the rest of the week.

Los Angeles Chargers at Cincinnati Bengals

Despite the Chargers presenting the league’s worst run defense, the Bengals’ secondary has proven it can be exposed against explosive passing attacks. Justin Herbert is generating 7.4 yards per attempt (YPA) while producing the sixth-highest deep-ball completion percentage. I’m willing to back Los Angeles over a possession.

Best Available Line: Chargers

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks appeared to be going up against the Football Team and the refs on Monday night. Russell Wilson is also accruing the third-fewest expected points added (EPA) per dropback since his return in Week 10. But if the 49ers’ offense is even a little limited without their explosive playmaker Deebo Samuel, the door could be open for Seattle to hang within a possession.

  • EPA is calculated by expected points scored based on the down, distance, and field position at the start of a play — juxtaposed with the play’s conclusion.

Best Available Line: Seahawks

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers

Plug your nose for this one. The Steelers underwent a 31-point drumming by the Bengals, but they were only outgained slightly in yards per play (YPP). Pittsburgh’s three turnovers and Ben Roethlisberger’s noodle arm triggered much of the meltdown.

Still, this game sets up to be a low-scoring affair. That correlates to Mike Tomlin’s team staying within two possessions, especially if the rah-rah coach can inspire his underwhelming defense — possibly without T.J. Watt (reserve/COVID-19 list).

Week 13 NFL Underdogs Angle: Steelers teaser leg (+10 or better)

Best Available Line: Steelers

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs

There isn’t value with the Broncos ATS, but I dissected where I see value with the total.
