That has not previously stopped Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett from offering a free perfect bracket challenge which a potential winner would garner $1 billion (or $1 million each year for life). The bracket challenges are starting to roll out, but is the Warren Buffett billion dollar bracket challenge taking place this year?

While it has not yet been made public, Buffett might be offering the opportunity to win a billion dollars, or at least $1 million per year for life, once again to his employees at Berkshire Hathaway. The sixth wealthiest person in the world has -- for years -- put up a monumental amount of prize money to any worker who can come up with the perfect bracket.

As mentioned above, it's nearly impossible that anybody will have perfect March Madness bracket when the national champion is crowned on April 7.

Which would you rather have, though: Buffett's money, or the grand prize of Elon Musk's X/Twitter Bracket Challenge: a trip to Mars?

Buffet and the perfect bracket challenge dates back several years, and Buffet has yet to award the $1 billion prize. Many remember that in 2014, Buffett’s contest, in association with Quicken Loans and Yahoo!, was open to the public. It was massively popular, but -- of course -- no one won.

Unfortunately, the fun of 2014 did not last. There was a legal issue with Yahoo!, which backed out of a similar bracket contest offering from SCA Promotions Inc - right before linking up with Buffett and Quicken Loans. Now, the contest is typically only offered to Buffett’s employees at Berkshire Hathaway.
