As four teams secured their invite to the semifinals of the 2022-23 CONCACAF Nations League in March, this week will decide who wins the latest edition of the competition outright. The U.S. men’s national team faces archrival Mexico Thursday night at 10 p.m. ET from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The winner will advance to Sunday’s final against either Panama or Canada. Fans can stream the USA soccer game on Paramount+, with a Spanish-language broadcast available on Univision. USMNT – Mexico odds have the Stars and Stripes favored on home soil over El Tri.

We’ve assembled the main markets below. You can also browse other props offered at the best sports betting sites in your state.

Match Preview

Any clash between these two nations is keenly anticipated but even more so when there is an element of competitive jeopardy to go with it.

Although the last meeting between the two was a 1-1 tie in an international friendly just two months ago, that stalemate in Arizona must be considered as the least heated of all the recent skirmishes that have taken place.

Prior to this, two World Cup 2022 qualifiers took place, and the United States Men’s National Team would win one on home soil and grind out a tie in Mexico – two results that played a considerable part in Gregg Berhalter’s men making it all the way to Qatar.

While it must also be remembered that although Berhalter oversaw those two qualification draws and progress to the World Cup Round of 16 just six months ago, he is no longer the man who will be leading the United States from the technical area.

After his contract expired at the end of 2022, Anthony Hudson is now the man to take over the coaching baton in the interim. However, that baton has become more akin to a hot potato, as it is now B.J. Callaghan who will be in charge for both the Nations League and the Gold Cup.

A scenario that means Callaghan has no better job interview than across the next few months. If he can land the first of two regional pieces of international silverware by the end of the week, his employment could continue into the 2024 Copa America.

Betting Angles and Analysis

Draw (+205)

Although the United States has had the better head-to-head record when looking back over the past five years, there has been very little difference between themselves and upcoming opponents Mexico in the last two.

Since June 2021, there have been five meetings on the field of play and only one of them has seen Thursday’s hosts pick up a win in regulation time. Yes, the United States may have been successful in both the 2021 Nations League and Gold Cup finals, but they needed extra time in order to do so.

In addition to these two extra-time victories, the last two meetings have ended in a tie, and this means four out of the last five clashes with Mexico have ended all square when 90 minutes of play have come to an end.

Such is the sample of recent outcomes, that it makes little sense to work against it and therefore, the best starting point in terms of pre-match bets, is that you back the stalemate at +205 and wait for a winner to unfold later in the night.

Correct Score 1-1 (+525)

While expanding on the tip above, I am also going to offer up a correct score. With parity being predicted for my opening wager, it does limit the options that are subsequently available but at the same time, it also offers more value if you are looking to back the tie.

Of the four recent regulation time ties that have taken place between the United States and Mexico, two of them have seen scored draws and the other two have been complete bores. Therefore, our small sample of results offers a 50/50 split regarding previous outcomes.

However, the last time these two nations met, they did manage to each get on the scoresheet. Jesus Ferreira and Uriel Antuna scored for the USMNT and Mexico respectively, as the international friendly ended with a goal each.

Which is where I believe Thursday’s encounter will be heading. This storied rivalry does seem to be one that is rather low scoring. Couple this with it being the end of the season for those players plying their trade in Europe and this could signify that their engines are running on empty.

With that said. there should just be enough gas in the tank for each defense to be breached and that is why I am also backing the 1-1 tie at odds of +360.

Best of luck betting USMNT Mexico odds.
