USA Odds: First World Cup Match Vs. Wales

  • This odds table has three choices under moneyline. One for each team to win, and one for the match to end in a draw. In three-way moneyline soccer betting markets, it is not a push if a World Cup match ends in a draw. It is a loss unless you bet on the draw odds.

Match Analysis

In any World Cup finals, you do not have to get off to a great start, you just need to make sure you avoid getting off to a poor one. Something that both the USA and Wales will be fully aware of before their November 21 clash.

Because with England expected to live up to their billing as one of the outright favorites, reaching the summit of Group B is the likely conclusion for manager Gareth Southgate and his players. Not a guarantee it must be said, but still likely all the same.

If the Three Lions rediscover their form in time for events in Qatar, the race for second becomes one with two entrants. In the white corner is the US Men’s National Team, and in the red corner are Bale and the pride of Wales.

While if it is a shootout between these two protagonists, their meeting at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium becomes one where neither team can afford to lose. Win and you are halfway on the road to the Round of 16. Lose, and you are much closer to an early exit.

With this in mind, the draw may also be in the back of both managers’ minds. Do both Gregg Berhalter and Robert Page have the desire to go for broke or will they look for additional points elsewhere?

A gamble yes, but it could also be a calculated risk at the same time. Wales would love nothing more than to get the better of their British cousins and also exact revenge for the defeat that they suffered at the hands of England at Euro 2016.

Of course, Wales eventually made the semifinals of that tournament and with this World Cup appearance being their first in 58 years, they will also visit the Middle East with nothing in the way of fear.

Especially with Bale in their starting 11, and although his current stint in the MLS has been far from a barnburner, the former Real Madrid star has a continual habit of popping up at just the right time.

An attribute that was on display only recently with the 33-year-old scoring a dramatic extra-time equalizer in the MLS Cup final. He and his Los Angeles FC teammates would eventually win the MLS Cup by virtue of a penalty shootout.

Now though the stage is even greater for both Bale and the American internationals he will go up against. With no appearance in Russia four years ago, the current crop of stateside starlets will be itching to mix it with soccer’s very best.

With a squad that now has a considerable cosmopolitan feel to it, qualification out to the Round of 16 would offer some absolution from previous shortcomings and repair fences that were damaged after failing to appear in Russia.

Soccer fans have incredibly short memories at the best of times and if a couple of wins can be found in Group B, a fervent fanbase back home will be ready to support their charges into the Round of 16 and hopefully beyond.

Ultimately, the pairing of the United States and Wales is going to define the shape of Group B. A draw would not be the worst result for either and at the time of writing, such an outcome is priced at around +200.

Of course, either manager could roll the dice and really make a statement. A statement that comes with earning maximum points against their nearest rivals. With USA odds at and Wales at it is almost a toss of a coin and this perhaps, reinforces the desire to back the draw.

With that said, this could also become something of a nervy affair. One where either side looks to scope out the other. If this proves to be the case, do not be surprised if goals are scored at a premium.

A premium that comes at Under 2.5 in total. Although the price is for this to happen, the smart money will certainly be placed on this outcome.

Whichever way this game plays out, it is set to be a fascinating encounter. Although these two nations may not consider soccer as their national sport, they are primed and ready to lock horns at this year’s World Cup.

Best of luck wagering on USA odds vs. Wales.
