We arrive at a big weekend of World Cup action, as the Last 16 stage gets underway, following a Round of 32 that delivered plenty in the way of drama.

With no overnight match in the UK, our World Cup predictions today are for the two evening games, with co-hosts Canada facing Morocco at 6pm, before France and Paraguay meet in Philadelphia at 10 o’clock.

So let’s get right to it with our World Cup best bets…

Canada vs Morocco: Nip And Tuck in Texas

It’s been a great tournament for the Canadians, who come into this one with back-to-back clean sheets under their belt, but they had a kind group draw and would’ve been delighted to find themselves up against South Africa in the previous round.

The competition gets serious now and Morocco represents a significant step up in class. Perhaps most notably, this one takes place in Houston and will be Canada’s first 2026 World Cup match outside their homeland.

That takes away a genuine equaliser for Jesse Marsch’s side, who will surely find it tough against a Moroccan outfit that boasts experience and youthful talent in equal measure.

Four of Morocco’s last five matches have seen under 2.5 goals, and considering Canada’s recent defensive improvement, I wouldn’t be surprised to see that again, at 4/7 with PricedUp.

James’ World Cup predictions today are being backed with PricedUp and odds are correct as of 8am on Saturday 4 July.

Morocco’s AFCON success at the turn of the year was built on defensive solidity, and they conceded only one goal in the entire tournament. Canada have some quality in forward areas, but they struggled to break down South Africa in the last round and will have more to think about defensively too.

With that in mind, a Morocco win to nil looks good to me at 13/10, offering more value than the straight win at 3/4. Canada will certainly make a game of it, but I fancy the African champions to get over the line.

My World Cup prediction for this one is Canada 0-1 Morocco, which can be backed at 19/4, while a one-goal margin of victory for either side is 13/10.

Paraguay vs France: South Americans Feeling Blue

Paraguay defied the odds to beat Germany on penalties to reach this stage, but it doesn’t get much tougher than a meeting with 2022 runners-up, France.

A French win in 90 is certainly not one of the World Cup best bets at 2/11, so we need to be creative in our search for value.

Michael Olise was at the heart of everything good about France’s thumping of Sweden last time out and I like the look of him for an anytime goal at 8/5.

For another FIFA World Cup player prop bet, I’m looking at yellow cards, and no side has had more bookings than Paraguay’s nine so far. Diego Gomez is responsible for two of those and missed the Germany win through suspension. He will be back tonight and is 11/4 to add to his 13 yellows this season.

And with so much attacking prowess, my World Cup predictions today have to feature French goals. They had a slow start in the first half against Senegal in their opener, but have scored in each of the seven halves of football since. If you fancy that run to continue, France to score in both halves here is 5/6.

I’ll wrap up my World Cup best bets with a score prediction, and with France gathering momentum, I fancy a repeat of the Sweden victory. Now they have a clean sheet, their defensive confidence should be on the up, so a 3-0 France win at 11/2 has plenty of promise.
