The knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off today, as South Africa and Canada meet in the opening Round of 32 fixture at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

The South Africans followed Mexico through from Group A, while the Canadians finished second behind Switzerland in Group B. Who will book their place in the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup? Check out this in-depth betting preview for the latest South Africa vs Canada odds and best tips.

South Africa vs Canada Picks & Preview

South Africa were involved in the very first game of the tournament, taking on co-hosts Mexico at Estadio Azteca. They made a poor start, crashing to a 2-0 defeat in front of 80,000 in Mexico City.

However, Hugo Broos’ boys got their act together and drew Czech Republic in their next game. Teboho Mokoena scored an 83rd-minute penalty to give Bafana Bafana their first Group A point.

South Africa went into their final group game against South Korea as the underdogs, but they nicked a crucial three points in Mexico. Thapelo Maseko was the hero, netting the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute to put his nation through to the knockouts.

Before the 2026 edition, Canada had lost six World Cup games out of six. However, they picked up their first-ever point on the grandest stage when Cyle Larin equalised in a 1-1 draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina in game one.

Canada’s first World Cup victory came in style, as the Reds hammered Qatar 6-0 in front of a 50,000-strong Vancouver crowd. Jonathan David was the hero, netting a treble at BC Place. Larin and Nathan Saliba were also on target in the rout.

Canada were hoping to reach the last 32 as group winners, but they were beaten 2-1 by Switzerland in their final game. Still, when the World Cup Group B odds were first available, the two nations were expected to finish in the top two, and it was a fascinating battle between the pair.

Considering how poor they looked in their opening game, South Africa have done remarkably well to reach the knockouts. Having said that, we can see their World Cup journey coming to an end on Sunday.

Jesse Marsch’s men may not have the home crowd this time, but they should have enough in the locker to see off the African nation in California. With PricedUp, you can get the solid price of 3/1 for the Canada win and both teams to score.

Our Prediction: Canada to Win & Both Teams to Score – 3/1

South Africa vs Canada Predictions & Odds

Jonathan David fired his way into World Cup Golden Boot contention with his superb hat-trick against Qatar on matchday two in Group B. On his day, the Juventus man is capable of the spectacular, and he would love to get on the scoresheet in this one.

He has slipped behind in the race to be the top scorer, as the great Lionel Messi leads the way on six goals. Vinicius Junior, Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland all have four each. Along with the likes of Harry Kane, Matheus Cunha, and Yoane Wissa, David has three goals.

Alphonso Davies may be the undisputed poster boy of Canadian football, but David is not too far behind. If the Maple Leaf Team are to reach the latter stages of the 2026 World Cup, David is likely to be their main man.

We fancy the 26-year-old to make a big impact in the last-32 game. Check out PricedUp’s tempting World Cup odds of 6/5 for Canada’s No. 10 to score anytime in Inglewood.

Our Prediction: Jonathan David to Score Anytime – 6/5
