Portugal face Croatia in a tasty all-European 2026 FIFA World Cup knockout tie today. Who will book their place in the Round of 16?

Both teams will fancy their chances of winning at BMO Field, and we could be in for a thrilling fixture in Toronto. The winners of this last-32 game will face either Spain or Austria in the Round of 16.

Portugal vs Croatia Picks & Preview

Even though the Portugal World Cup odds had Roberto Martinez’s men down as the strong favourites to win their group, the Portuguese had to settle for second place behind Colombia. They collected five points from a possible nine after one win and two draws.

They were held to a 1-1 draw by DR Congo in their opening fixture in North America. Despite scoring early through Joao Neves, they were level at the break after Yoane Wisser’s goal on the stroke of half time. The game ended in a frustrating 1-1 stalemate.

Portugal bounced back in style in game two, hammering Uzbekistan at NRG Stadium. Cristiano Ronaldo helped himself to a brace, while Nuno Mendes and Rafael Leao were also on target in the 5-0 rout.

Portugal were through by the time they lined up against Colombia in game three. However, they still wanted to win and finish top of Group K, but the Colombians held them to a goalless draw at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Croatia went head-to-head with England in Group L. In game one, the Three Lions edged a six-goal thriller between the pair at AT&T Stadium, with Harry Kane (2), Jude Bellingham, and Marcus Rashford getting the goals. Martin Baturina and Petar Musa were on target for the Blazers.

Zlatko Dalic’s boys needed a win in their next one, and they managed to edge past Panama in Toronto. Ante Budimir scored the only goal, but it was an unconvincing performance by the Europeans.

Croatia ended Group L on six points after winning the last one against Ghana. Nikola Vlasic netted in the 83rd minute to give the Blazers a narrow 2-1 victory at Lincoln Financial Field.

These two have shared various successes over the past decade or so. Portugal won UEFA Euro 2016, while Croatia were runners-up at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The Portuguese head into this Round-of-32 World Cup game unbeaten in eight (five wins, three draws), though they won just once in the group stage. As for Croatia, they have lost three and won three of their previous six.

This is one of the toughest last-32 games to call, but we fancy the Portuguese to edge it. You can get 10Bet's tempting World Cup odds of 9/4 for the Portugal win and both teams to score.

Our Prediction: Portugal to Win & Both Teams to Score – 9/4

Portugal vs Croatia Picks & Odds

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score at six World Cups when he opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the Uzbekistan match. His second strike of the game was his tenth World Cup goal for Portugal.

He is not being mentioned in the World Cup Golden Boot odds, as Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe lead the way on six goals each, while Harry Kane and Erling Haaland have five. That will hurt the No. 7, but Ronaldo can pop up at any time and find the net.

The Al-Nassr man may have turned 41 this year, but his hunger and desire will not die. Ronaldo remains an exceptional talent, and he could fire his nation to glory in this World Cup knockout tie.

Croatia will be very wary of his threat, but we are backing Ronaldo to get his name on the scoresheet in Canada. He netted twice against Uzbekistan, and 10Bet are offering 9/2 for Ronaldo to bag two or more here.

Our Prediction: Cristiano Ronaldo to Score Two or More Goals – 9/2
