Germany take on Curacao in their opening game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Germans are the strong favourites at NRG Stadium, and they should take all three points.

According to the latest World Cup Group D odds, Germany are fancied to finish at the summit and cruise into the knockout rounds. With Ivory Coast and Ecuador being the other two nations contesting the group, Germany will back themselves to do the business.

Germany vs Curacao Picks & Preview

Germany are not too far behind the favourites to go all the way in North America, priced at 16/1 to lift the trophy before they have kicked a ball. First and foremost, Julian Nagelsmann’s men are looking to win Group D and progress with no issues.

Germany are the joint-best European nation in World Cup history, winning the tournament four times. However, after triumphing in Brazil in 2014, the Germans failed to reach the knockout phase in 2018 and 2022.

Curacao are making their first-ever World Cup appearance. They had a tremendous qualifying campaign, winning seven and drawing three of ten.

Dick Advocaat is about as experienced as they come, and his team are not in North America to make up the numbers. They are certainly capable of causing a couple of upsets along the way, but this will be a tough first test.

Since suffering a 2-0 loss to Slovakia last September, Germany have gone on to win the next nine. They warmed up for the 2026 World Cup with a 2-1 win against co-hosts United States, with Kai Havertz and Leroy Sane getting the goals.

Curacao ended a three-game losing streak and a four-match winless run with a thumping 4-0 victory over Aruba last week. Joshua Brenet, Jeremy Antonisse, Livano Comenecia, and Juninho Bacuna were on target in Willemstad.

Although Curacao can play their part in Houston, Germany should get the job done. The Germans are priced at just 1/20 to win, so why not back them to come out on top by a margin? Germany to win -2 is available at World Cup odds of 4/11 with PricedUp.

Our Prediction: Germany to Win -2 – 4/11

Germany vs Curacao Predictions

Winning is the most important factor, but Germany would love to put on a show in Texas. Many have written them off already, but Nagelsmann has a supremely talented squad at his disposal.

In two of their last three matches, Germany have been leading at half time and gone on to win. You can get 1/4 for the European nation to be winning at half time and full time again, but we prefer 40/85 for the Germans to win both halves.

Our Prediction: Germany to Win Both Halves– 40/85

Germany vs Curacao Tips

Havertz came back from injury to make a huge impact for Arsenal at the end of the season. He scored a vital winner in the Premier League against Burnley and was on target in the UEFA Champions League final.

Havertz has netted three goals in his last four games for club and country, including one in the World Cup warm-up victory over USA. In the World Cup Golden Boot odds right now, Havertz is priced at 22/1 to finish at the top of the scoring chart.

He could have a key role to play for his nation this summer, and the Arsenal man will be eager to get off the mark in game one. Check out the tempting odds of 3/1 for Havertz to net the opening goal at the NRG Stadium.

Our Prediction: Kai Havertz to Score First – 3/1
