France and England meet in the Third-Place game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Having reached the semi-finals, neither nation wanted to be in this fixture, but finishing third is still a great achievement.

France missed out on another final after losing to Spain in the semi-finals, while England let a lead slip to lose to rivals Argentina in the last four. Check out the France vs England odds, tips, and predictions for this World Cup match.

France vs England Odds & Preview

France were looking like the real deal in North America, winning their group with ease and cruising into the semi-finals. Didier Deschamps’ boys were the pre-tournament favourites and were the fancied nation to win the World Cup throughout the tournament.

After winning three knockout games without conceding a single goal, the French faced Spain in the semi-finals. Unfortunately for Les Blues, the Spaniards were in inspired form in Texas, with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro giving the European champions a comfortable 2-0 win.

England finished top of Group L, beating Croatia and Panama and drawing with Ghana. They scored two late goals to come from behind to see off DR Congo in the Round of 32, setting up a tasty last-16 tie with Mexico at the Estadio Azteca.

The Three Lions were excellent against the conditions in Mexico City, running out deserved 3-2 winners with ten players. Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane were the heroes in the Azteca.

Bellingham was also the shining light in England’s quarter-final victory over Norway in Miami. The Real Madrid ace levelled the game on the stroke of half time before bagging the winner in the third minute of extra time.

England faced old foes Argentina in the semi-finals and were minutes away from sealing a spot in their first final for 60 years. However, they sat off after scoring, and the Argentinians turned the game on its head with goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez.

France have reached the last two World Cup finals, beating Croatia and losing to Argentina. This will be their first match for third place since beating Belgium in Puebla in the 1986 World Cup.

England played in this game at the 2018 World Cup in Russia after being beaten by the Croatians in the semi-finals. They lost 2-0 to Belgium in Saint Petersburg and had to settle for fourth place

The previous competitive meeting between these two European heavyweights came at the last World Cup in 2022. France edged a tight quarter-final in Qatar, with Olivier Giroud netting the winner 12 minutes from time.

France vs England Predictions

Both Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane could still finish as the World Cup’s top scorer. Mbappe is level with Lionel Messi on eight goals, with Kane two goals behind the pair. All three players still have one match to play at this World Cup.

In the latest World Cup Golden Boot odds, Mbappe is available at 9/10, while you can get 33/1 for Kane to finish at the top of the pile. Why not back both players to score in Miami Gardens?

The France captain is available at 3/5 to net anytime. As for England’s skipper, 10Bet has him priced at 6/5 to get his name on the scoresheet in this Third-Place fixture.

Our Predictions: Kylian Mbappe to Score Anytime – 3/5 / Harry Kane to Score Anytime – 6/5

France vs England Picks

There is not much in the betting, but France are the slight favourites with the bookies. This will be Deschamps’ final game in charge of the French national team, and the players will be motivated to give their beloved boss a win in his send-off.

England will no doubt play their part, and we fancy Thomas Tuchel’s men to get on the scoresheet at Hard Rock Stadium. However, we are backing France to win and both teams to score at World Cup odds of 39/20.

Our Prediction: France to Win & Both Teams to Score – 39/20
