Canada and Morocco go head-to-head today in the first 2026 FIFA World Cup last-16 game. The knockout fixture will take place at NRG Stadium in Houston.

It has been a memorable tournament for co-hosts Canada, who had lost every World Cup match before the 2026 edition. Can Jesse Marsch’s men keep their momentum going and secure a place in the quarter-finals?

Canada vs Morocco Picks & Preview

The Canadians picked up their first-ever World Cup point in their opening game, coming from behind to grab a 1-1 draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina in Toronto. They had previously lost six out of six at World Cups.

The Reds booked their knockout spot with a game spare, hammering Qatar in Vancouver. Jonathan David scored a hat-trick, while Cyle Larin and Nathan Saliba were on the scoresheet in the 6-0 rout.

Canada were narrowly beaten by Switzerland in game three, but they progressed in second place, collecting four points from a possible nine. The second-place finish set up a Round-of-32 tie with South Africa.

It was a tight and tense knockout fixture at SoFi Stadium. The game was heading for extra time, but Stephen Eustaquio popped up in the 92nd minute to fire the Canadians to victory in California.

Morocco became the first African nation to reach the World Cup semi-finals four years ago, and the Atlas Lions could go far again. They picked up seven points in Group C, only finishing behind Brazil on goal difference.

The Moroccans held the Brazilians to a 1-1 draw on matchday one, with Vinicius Junior’s goal cancelling out Ismael Saibari’s opener. Morocco then beat Scotland by a goal to nil thanks to Saibari’s second-minute strike.

Before facing Netherlands in the Round of 32, Morocco finished Group C with a 4-2 victory over Haiti. The last-16 game against the Dutch was fascinating, as they were minutes away from exiting. However, Issa Diop levelled in the 91st minute and Morocco went on to win 3-2 on penalties.

Canada have had a memorable World Cup up to now. They have picked up their first point, first win, and reached the knockout phase for the first time. That said, today’s Round-of-16 matchup will be their toughest test yet.

This is likely to be an entertaining contest in California, as both teams go all out for the win. Still, the Moroccans should edge it – 10Bet are offering World Cup odds of 27/20 for Morocco to win and under 3.5 goals.

Our Prediction: Morocco to Win & Under 3.5 Goals – 27/20

Canada vs Morocco Picks & Odds

Morocco initially lost the 2025 AFCON final to Senegal, but the result was overturned after the Senegalese players walked off the pitch in protest while the game was still being played. Therefore, the nation has not officially lost a game since January 2024.

Morocco are a notoriously tough nut to crack, and Mohamed Ouahbi’s troops will be looking for a fast start in Texas. We are backing the Moroccans to score the opening goal at 8/13.

Our Prediction: Morocco to Score First – 8/13

Canada vs Morocco Picks & Odds

If you studied the Canada World Cup odds market before a ball was kicked, Marsch’s men were fancied to get out of their group and reach the early stages of the knockouts. They have done superbly well to get this far, but their World Cup journey is likely to come to an end today.

Still, the co-hosts are good enough to get on the scoresheet in this one. There is excellent value in 16/5 for the Moroccan win and both teams to score. Also, Morocco to win 2-1 at 6/1 has caught the eye.

Our Predictions: Morocco to Win & Both Teams to Score – 16/5 / Morocco to Win 2-1 – 6/1
