Brazil vs Japan Betting Tips And Best Bets: A 14/1 Bruno Belter?
The knockout stages of the 2026 World Cup are underway and our second match of the last 32 takes us to Houston, with Brazil vs Japan looking like one of the potential ties of the round.
Brazil are improving rapidly, with their opening 1-1 draw with Morocco followed up by back-to-back wins and clean sheets against Haiti and Scotland.
And Japan have brought more than their fair share of entertainment too, playing out end-to-end draws against the Netherlands and Sweden, either side of a 4-0 hammering of Tunisia.
The Head-to-Head
The head-to-head record between these two suggests we could be in for a few goals.
Over 2.5 goals has been a winner in seven of the eight Brazil vs Japan meetings since 2005, and although the Samba Boys have 11 wins from the 13 games they’ve had down the years, Japan beat them 3-2 in a friendly back in October.
And Japan have a knack for troubling the bigger sides, drawing with the Netherlands in their opener, while also having a pre-World Cup friendly win over England on their record.
Brazil may be on a run of back-to-back clean sheets, but before then they’d gone six matches without one, conceding against the likes of Tunisia, Panama and Egypt.
With goals looking like the order of the day in Texas, my first Brazil vs Japan tip is for Both Teams to Score, available at 20/21 with PricedUp.

Rayan The Real Deal?
One man who has impressed me in a Brazil shirt this World Cup has been young winger Rayan.
The 19-year-old has 20 goals this season, including five in 13 Premier League outings, following his big-money move to Bournemouth from Vasco de Gama in January.
He’s looked the part internationally too, notching an assist for Vini Jr against Scotland and looking dangerous across his two appearances so far.
He’s probably due a goal now and against a Japan side that offer up chances, I like the look of him at 2/1 to find the net anytime.
14/1 Bruno to Let Fly
Sticking with the theme of anytime goalscorers, and I’ve got my eye on those who could score from distance tonight.
Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki hasn’t overly convinced me so far. The Parma stopper has been beaten twice by shots on the edge or just outside the penalty area, and I’m working on the theory that he’s struggling to adapt to a World Cup ball that can sometimes have some rogue movements.
That brings me to Brazil and Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimareas, who scored nine goals for the Magpies last season, including three from outside the penalty area.
He’s 14/1 to do the same here, which I really like the look of as a small single.
Brazil to Power Through
Ultimately, it’s very difficult to see past a Brazil win here.
They’re slowly simmering into a side that could become serious contenders if they build up a head of steam. Two easy wins against Haiti and Scotland isn’t much of a litmus test, but Japan is a step up in class that they’re more than ready for.
My main concern for Japan is there seems to be a lot of ways for Brazil to find their way through them. We’ve touched on Suzuki’s potential shortcomings, but their opponents will also have a significant advantage at set pieces, and their defensive superiority will likely count for something too.
4/6 for a Brazil win in 90 minutes looks like decent value to me, especially when I woke up this morning expecting to see them at 4/7 or even 1/2.
If you want to combine it with goals, a Brazil win and both teams to score is surely the way to go, at 14/5.
