Argentina face off against Switzerland in the last 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final today. The winners in Kansas City will play either Norway or England in the semi-finals.

The world champions are the favourites in this quarter-final, but the Swiss will be no pushovers at Arrowhead Stadium. Read on for the latest Argentina vs Switzerland odds and best tips.

Argentina vs Switzerland Picks & Preview

Argentina eased through to the knockout phase, winning Group J with maximum points. Lionel Messi was inspired in a 3-0 victory over Algeria in game one, netting his first-ever World Cup hat-trick.

The captain was also Argentina’s hero on matchday two, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win against Austria. Messi then netted again in his nation’s 3-1 victory over Jordan in Texas.

Argentina were given a scare by Cape Verde in the Round of 32. The holders needed extra time to finally see the job through, with a 111th-minute own goal giving Lionel Scaloni’s team a 3-2 win in Miami.

Messi kept up his record of scoring in every World Cup game in Argentina’s incredible comeback victory over Egypt in Atlanta. The No. 10 bagged the equaliser before Enzo Fernandez headed home the winner in the 92nd minute.

Like Argentina, Switzerland progressed to the knockout phase as group winners. They responded from a disappointing draw with Qatar in game one to win Group B with seven points to their name.

The Swiss were outstanding on matchday two, thumping Bosnia & Herzegovina 4-1 at SoFi Stadium, with Johan Manzambi (2), Ruben Vargas, and Granit Xhaka getting the goals in California. They made sure of the top spot with a 2-1 win against Canada in Vancouver.

In the Round of 32, Switzerland eased past Algeria at BC Place. Breel Embolo opened the scoring after ten minutes, and Dan Ndoye doubled their advantage just after the half-time interval.

They went up against Colombia in the last 16. The game finished in a forgettable goalless draw, but the Swiss held their nerve in the shootout, winning 4-3 on penalties.

This will be the first meeting between the nations since they locked horns in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Argentina won the last-16 tie by a goal to nil, with Angel Di Maria netting an extra-time winner in the 118th minute.

The Argentinians are in red-hot form, winning every game since a 1-0 loss to Ecuador in World Cup qualifying last September. As for Switzerland, they have suffered just one defeat since November 2024.

Scaloni’s side are the bookies’ favourites in this quarter-final, priced at World Cup odds of 4/6 to win in normal time and progress to the last four. However, they have sailed a little close to the wind in their last two.

Switzerland are notoriously tough to beat under Murat Yakin, and the Red Crosses will enjoy the underdogs tag in Missouri. Most punters will be backing an Argentina victory, but we fancy the Swiss to cause an upset against the world champions. PricedUp have the Switzerland win at 9/2.

Our Prediction: Switzerland to Win – 9/2

Argentina vs Switzerland Odds & Picks

Messi has taken all the plaudits for his incredible goalscoring exploits in North America. The 39-year-old has rolled back the years, scoring eight goals. However, Kylian Mbappe, who has also netted eight times. leads the way in the World Cup Golden Boot odds market.

All eyes will be on Argentina’s main man, but Switzerland will have other ideas. Johan Manzambi is their top scorer, though he will miss this quarter-final through injury. Therefore, Embolo, who has two World Cup goals, could be the Swiss’ biggest threat in Kansas City.

Embolo always has an eye for a goal, and the Rennes forward is available at 7/2 to net anytime in this one.

Our Prediction: Breel Embolo to Score Anytime – 16/5
