Cobolli has had his best Grand Slam by far. The furthest he previously went was the quarter-finals at Wimbledon last year. At 24, the Italian still has time on his side, and he has already won three senior career titles.

Cobolli picked up his first ATP title in 2025, winning the Tiriac Open in Bucharest. The Italian followed that up with wins in Hamburg and Acapulco. He may be the underdog in this major final, but Cobolli is certainly capable of causing an upset.

Zverev is making his fourth Grand Slam final appearance. He reached the US Open final in 2020, the French Open final in 2024, and the Australian Open final in 2025. Unfortunately for the talented German, he has lost every time.

Zverev will be desperate to end his final woe and finally secure a major victory on the ATP Tour. He has won 24 career titles, including two Madrid Opens and two Italian Opens, and he also won gold for Germany in the 2020 Summer Olympics.

This will be the fifth meeting between the pair in competitive competitions, with Zverev leading 3-1. They most recently locked horns in the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 Madrid, with the German winning 6-1, 6-4.

The Route to the Final

Italian duo Arnaldi and Cobolli were set to face off in the semi-finals at Roland Garros. However, Arnaldi was forced to withdraw from the all-Italian semi-final after feeling unwell. Therefore, Cobolli secured a spot in the final without needing to hit a ball in the semi-finals.

In the earlier rounds, the Italian beat Andrea Pellegrino, Wu Yibing, Learner Tien, and Zachary Svajda. He then got the better of Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals, picking up an impressive 3-1 victory.

With defending champion Carlos Alcaraz withdrawing before the tournament began and Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic being knocked out early, Zverev has been the favourite for some time. So far, he has lived up to the billing, looking unstoppable in France.

After seeing off Benjamin Bonzi, Tomas Machac, Quentin Halys, and Jesper de Jong, the German made light work of Rafael Jodar in the quarter-finals. Zverev then beat Jakub Mensik 3-1 in the semi-finals to book his place in another Grand Slam final.

Will Zverev Be Too Hot to Handle?

As expected, Zverev heads into the showpiece Paris final as the red-hot favourite. The 29-year-old has seemingly waited an eternity to win a major, and this is without question his best chance.

Cobolli may have had an easy ride in the semi-finals, but the Italian fully deserves his place in the final. His gritty and aggressive style has been a joy to watch in the French capital, but getting the better of the No. 2 seed will be a tall order.
