Will Garnacho Find His Home at Villa Park?
Alejandro Garnacho has completed a loan move to Aston Villa from Chelsea. After a turbulent time at Stamford Bridge, can the Argentina international find his feet in the West Midlands?
New Blues boss Xabi Alonso axed Garnacho from his plans, with Villa having an obligation to buy the Argentinian for around £40m when his loan period ends.
Smart Move for Garnacho?
Big things were expected of Garnacho when he broke onto the scene as a teenager at Manchester United in 2022. However, after playing almost 150 games for the Red Devils but failing to live up to his true potential, the winger decided to jump ship to Chelsea last August.
Despite a few flashes of brilliance, Garnacho hardly set the world alight in West London, scoring just one Premier League goal. He saved his best for the cup competitions, netting seven goals across the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup.
Alonso made it clear from the start that Garnacho was not part of Chelsea’s plans this season, and the 22-year-old Spaniard has opted for a loan move to Villa Park.
The Villans have also chopped and changed their team over the summer, with Morgan Rogers’ huge-money move to Chelsea being the standout transfer. Villa finished fourth in the Premier League and won the UEFA Europa League last season.
Can the Winger Make the Right Impact at Villa Park?
Garnacho is a player that needs to be loved, and Unai Emery is one of the greatest man managers around. The Villa boss is certainly capable of getting the best out of the youngster.
Garnacho is only 22, but he has over 100 Premier League appearances and has played eight times for the Argentina national team. If he can hit the ground running, it could be a great move for all parties.
Emery’s Villa face UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup before kicking off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.
