Premier League Predictions Today 05/09: Wins for Villa, Forest and Man City

Following the closure of a dramatic transfer window, we have a healthy schedule of seven matches for Premier League predictions today.

Five 3 o’clock kick-offs are bookended by Bournemouth’s long trip to Newcastle at lunchtime, before Hull and Aston Villa meet in the evening kick-off.

Premier League Predictions Today: Lunchtime Goals

Newcastle-Bournemouth is first up, and the Geordies have certainly had the better start after drawing with Liverpool, in a match they were seconds away from winning, before an excellent victory away at Spurs last week.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, can count themselves unlucky to be sat on just one point from their opening two matches. Had it not been for injury-time goals in their defeat to Man City and draw with Everton, it would be a much rosier picture for new Cherries boss Marco Rose.

We’re probably in line for some goals here. We’ve seen nine in two league and cup games already in this fixture in 2026, while both teams have scored in eight of Bournemouth’s last ten Premier League games, and it’s also been a winner in seven of Newcastle’s matches in that same timeframe.

So, my first Premier League predictions today are for Over 3.5 goals at 7/5 with PricedUp, and if you’re pushing me for a winner, Newcastle have the bit between their teeth at present and look value at 23/20 to pick up all three points against a Bournemouth side that have already taken some hits this season.

The Three O’Clocks

First on my radar is Man City v Coventry, and it’s been a poor start to the season for Frank Lampard’s side.

The Sky Blues are pointless and look defensively vulnerable, while City have six goals in their opening two.

And with that form in mind, Over 3.5 Man City goals has a great chance at 7/4, and Rayan Cherki to continue his good start to the season with a goal at 6/5 represents much better value than Erling Haaland.

On the South Coast, meanwhile, you have to go back to 2009 for Leeds’ last win at Brighton, and the Seagulls lost only four times at home last season. I like the look of them to make it two wins from two at the AMEX with victory here, at 17/20.

And I’m also hot on a Nottingham Forest victory over Spurs. Forest looked great in their 2-2 draw at Anfield last weekend and should be ready to bounce back from a poor home start.

Tottenham are still very much a work in progress and have looked well off it in back-to-back defeats to start the campaign. They were beaten 3-0 home and away by Forest last season, and the same again is a somewhat bold Premier League prediction today at 22/1, but you can be slightly more conservative and back the home win at 11/8.

The Evening Kick-Off

We round off our Premier League predictions today with a look at Aston Villa’s trip to Hull City.

And Unai Emery’s men have struggled so far, losing back-to-back games, while it’s a complete 180 for their hosts, who followed up a great home win over Man United with a late victory at Coventry last weekend.

But the head-to-head doesn’t make for pretty reading for the Tigers, who have only beaten Villa once since 1987.

And bar an end-of-season dip, Villa were one of the best away teams in the Premier League in 2025/26, losing only six on the road.

But they only managed to keep a clean sheet in 16% of those matches, and while I think they’ll have enough to win here, it’s going to be hard work against a newly-promoted side that’s full of confidence.
