Horse Racing Tips Today – Ed Quigley’s Best Bets for Tuesday 30 June
Ed Quigley is back with his best bets for Tuesday's action as he takes a look at the cards at Salisbury, Brighton and Stratford...
Brighton 3.13 - Buy The Dip
Buy The Dip has a smart record at Brighton, and looks primed for another big effort here. The 6-year-old has two wins and four placed efforts from ten starts over Course and Distance, and will be looking to enhance that record here. He will need to raise his game even more here to defy a mark of 66, but this doesn't look the deepest of races, and he arrives in cracking form. Fast, down-hill, left-handed tracks seem to suit him, and he bolted up at Lingfield three starts ago and was beaten on the line at the same venue last time out where a little unlucky, so he should be ready to rock and roll once again. Pat Cosgrave takes the ride, and this combination look the value play to win an open-looking contest.
Salisbury 3.37 - Addison Grey
Addison Grey has been a little underwhelming in recent times, but did bolt up on his only previous start at the track, and is one to take note of dropping down in grade to this Class 3 assignment. The Clive Cox team have started to hit form, and with underfoot conditions likely to be on the fast side, Addison Grey should have everything set up perfectly for him, where he can make his presence felt dropping down into calmer waters here. David Probert is on board the 4-year-old who will be departing from stall 5, and I thik they have every chance of getting back in the winner's enclosure here.
Salisbury 5.10 - Dark Sovereign
It's all about the step up in trip for Dark Sovereign who has had four starts exclusively at 7f, including on Handicap debut at Sandown last time out off 1lb higher, but has been crying out for this extra distance, and so the step up to 1m should be ideal. The gelding has run well in all four defeats, and the performance last time out could probably be upgraded given that he was forced wide and looked a bit outpaced in order to make his challenge. The extra furlong can see Ralph Beckett's charge really take a step forwards, where a greater test of stamina can see him progress beyond a Handicap mark of 73. The Beckett team have a very healthy record at Salisbury, and they look to have major claims of adding to the tally here with this son of Dark Angel. Hector Crouch has been amongst the winners lately, and he is in the saddle, and this team could prove a tough nut to crack.
Stratford 7.18 - Jackstell e/w
This is a fascinating race, and I am going to give a chance to the Jamie Snowden trained Jackstell to get back to winning ways. The 7-year-old was most progressive at the back-end of last year, and if the Lambourn handler can get him back in the same form as before Christmas, then he will be a major player. A combination of Soft ground and lack of a recent run are valid excuses for the last two starts, and now back on summer ground in a handicap off 115, he looks a serious challenger with that recent run at Market Rasen under his belt. The tongue-tie and cheekpieces are applied for the first time, and if they have the desired effect, then he could be a big danger to all where he steps up to 2m6f for the first time - a trip that looks as though it will really suit. The excellent Gavin Sheehan is in the saddle, and this combination could be the dark-horses here.
