YORK RACECOURSE, NORTH YORKSHIRE, UK : 17 MAY 2019 : Magnetic Charm ridden by James Doyle and owned by The Queen Winning the Listed Fillies Stakes over 1m at York

Fresh from hitting the target once again at the weekend, Ed Quigley is back with his best bets for a busy day of action on Tuesday...

Leicester 3.10 - Seet

This looks a well-above average renewal, with some unexposed and exciting types looking to kick on and perhaps advertise their claims in regards to making a mark at a higher level. The John & Thady Gosden trained Seet put in a real-eye catching performance on debut when fifth at Newbury over 7f, despite being really keen in the early stages. The form of that race has worked out incredibly well, and she stayed on inside the hard yards, and shaped as though she would be better next time out, and she was, when scoring emphatically at Wolverhampton last time out. The hood she wore to post kept a lid on her and she settled much better throughout the early exchanges on the artificial surface. Back on turf here, she is open to more progress with Will Buick in the saddle and it wouldn't surprise me if she was up to competing in Pattern company sooner rather than later. This daughter of Too Darn Hot looks to have plenty of gears, and looks just the type of individual who can flourish here on the way to bigger and better things.

Bath 4.30 - Annexation

Tony Carroll and Rossa Ryan team up with Annexation, and the veteran looks to have major claims of getting involved at the business end of proceedings. The Worcestershire yard are in fine fettle at present, and it wouldn't be a shock if this veteran could land a blow, as he is looking chucked in on the form of 2025. This horse was last in the winner's enclosure off a mark of 66, but now looks lobbed in coming into this race off a mark of 59. If he puts his best foot forwards he is more than capable of winning this. He is one from one over Course and Distance and underfoot conditions should be perfect for him. The excellent Rossa Ryan takes the ride on the gelding, and it isn't hard to envisage them getting in the mix here. I think a return to the winner's enclosure could easily be on the cards for this individual who looks the value play in this trappy encounter with him having a lot of ticks in the right boxes.

Plumpton 7.09 - I Shut That D'Or

Just the four runners due to head to post for this Handicap Chase over the extended 2m3f, and the Joe Tizzard trained I Shut That D'Or looks to have a big chance of getting back in the winner's enclosure. The 8-year-old has a good record over Course and Distance, winning twice from three starts, so is very much at home at this track. He is versatile in regards to underfoot requirements and is starting to look very handicapped. His last win came off a BHA mark of 106, and he gets to tackle this assignment off 104, so this 8-year-old has no excuses from a handicapping perspective. He shaped as though he badly needed the run after more than a year off on his comeback at Haydock last month, but then shaped with much more encouragement when third at Fontwell last time out. Brendan Powell takes the ride, and this combination have to be respected with the yard in red-hot form at present.
