Horse Racing Tips Today – Ed Quigley’s Best Bets for Tuesday 23 June
Ed Quigley was in red-hot form at Royal Ascot, and is back with his best bets for all the action on Tuesday for some competitive looking contests ...
Ffos Las 2.30 - Proof
Proof is a bit of an enigma, but no doubt has the ability to win this, and is the one I am siding with here in this Class 5 event over 6f. The key could be the step back up in trip, as the 3-year-old has looked a little tapped for toe in recent events, and should find things much more suitable here given recent efforts. It is also worth noting that he takes a big drop in Grade - he was in a Class 2 event when last seen, so he is in substantially calmer waters here. Off a BHA mark, he is on the same rating as when last successful, and so it is far beyond the realms of possibility that he can have a serious say on proceedings here. The excellent Rossa Ryan takes the ride for the Charlie Hills team, and this combination get the nod from me.
Ffos Las 4.00 - Typeface
This is a trappy looking encounter, where there are a few out-of-sorts individuals making the gig, but I would be prepared to give a chance to Typeface to get back to winning ways given the unblemished record over Course and Distance that he possesses. Two starts over the C&D have yielded two victories, so he has to be feared returning to his beloved trip and track. Quick underfoot conditions suit, and Ian Williams runner looks primed for a big display here with the excellent Billy Loughnane in the saddle. Off a mark of 52 he looks far from harshly treated, and I think Typeface is more than capable of getting involved at the business end in a Class 6 race that lacks any real strength or depth on paper.
Ffos Las 5.10 - Zambezi Magic
This race could see a minor upset, where a bold show from Zambezi Magic wouldn't be a massive surprise. The 57-race veteran has been a little bit in the doldrums in recent times, but can never be ignored given his outrageously good record over Course and Distance. The 9-year-old has six wins over the trip and track from just 11 starts. He often saves his best for this venue, and it is going to be far from a shock if he can run a big race at attractive odds off a mark of 62. Charlie Tucker is on board claiming 7lb so this old warrior is looking well treated for this assignment. Back at 10f he can make his presence felt.
Newton Abbot 8.20 - Belgarum
The Joe Tizzard trained Belgarum is a very consistent individual in this Grade, and should be in the thick of things once again. He is still looking well treated on his peak Chase form, and has some good form at this track to go with it. Underfoot conditions will be spot on for him, and he has a touch of class that could see him tough to beat in this company. Freddie Gingell takes the ride, and this duo look to have very solid claims. Stamina won't be an issue and everything looks set fair for a big performance from the evergreen 8-year-old for a stable who get amongst the winners at this meeting.
