Ed Quigley fired in the winners over the weekend, and is back with his best bets for Tuesday's action...

Southwell 2.30 - Duke Of Luckley

I am going to take a wild swing at Duke Of Luckley in this 2m Handicap Chase Class 4 event. Recent form figures would suggest he has no hope, having failed to complete in his last three starts so from that point of view he is up against it. However, he does have an outrageously good record over Course and Distance winning three times, and has four wins at the track overall. He will need to bring his A-game to the table, but he also has a stunning record when fresh - he has wins off the back of 155-day break, 235 days, 90 days and 179 days. Therefore first-time out can often be the time to catch him, so arriving after 223-days shouldn't be viewed as a negative, and he will love underfoot conditions. From a handicapping point of view he is looking chucked in off a mark of 114 - 7lb lower than when last successful. Freddie Keighley is on board claiming a further 5lb, so this combination could be capable of pulling off a shock at attractive odds.

Southwell 4.30 - Jager Time

Jager Time was far too fizzy on the comeback trail after a 193-day break last time out, and paid for it inside the hard-yards to finish fourth. He should have learnt a great deal from that run, which should leave him spot on for this 19 days later. Ground should suit, and this step back up in distance is another tick in the box for this 7-year-old who saw out 3m1f very well when winning at Huntingdon at the back-end of last year. Fern O'Brien takes the ride, and claims 5lb, so there could easily be more to come off a mark of 98 in this Class 5 Handicap Hurdle. The gelding doesn't have many miles on the clock and is still relatively unexposed in the context of this, and gets the vote from me here.

Pontefract 4.48 - Distinction

Distinction won on his only previous start over Course and Distance, and is looking very well treated for this assignment off a mark of 62. The 8-year-old was last in the winner's enclosure off a mark of 67, so has to be in the mix here on these terms, and ran a belter when beaten a head at this venue last time out, rallying well over 1m. The step back up to 10f can only bring about improvement, and it would be hard not envisage the gelding firmly in the shake-up here at the business end of proceedings. Finlay Bassett takes the ride, and with a further 7lb being claimed, Distinction looks too well treated to ignore in a weak looking encounter.

Southwell 5.30 - Beorma

Beorma will take all the beating here, and bolted up on Chase debut at Worcester last week, looking a transformed character, and should score again here. The Dan Skelton representative looked a natural over fences, and travelled with zest galore 5 days ago, where the combination of fences and a first time tongue-tie seemed to really see her click. This doesn't look like a race with any real strength or depth to it, and so it would be a shock if she couldn't put up a bold show here considering she won in a canter last time out. Harry Skelton takes the ride and she will take a lot of beating.
