Horse Racing Tips: Abraham Lincoln is the One to Beat at 4/5 on Saturday, 11/7
We have an action-packed Saturday in-store, and Ed Quigley is back with his best Horse Racing Tips for all the action. Newmarket takes centre stage with the July Cup being the main attraction, but we also have a cracking card at Ascot to get stuck into on what should be an exciting afternoon.
Saturday's Horse Racing Tips for July 11: Quinalt a big price for the upset in the July Cup and Abraham Lincoln looks the Superlative option...
Ascot 2.27 - More Thunder
More Thunder has been hitting the crossbar lately at the highest level, and now has a great chance to get back in the winner's enclosure...
More Thunder has run some crackers in recent times, including last time out, when beaten just half a length in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, and previously to that, was runner-up in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury. If he brings his best form to the table here, then he will take a lot of beating, with Cieren Fallon taking the ride for the William Haggas stable. Underfoot conditions should be spot on, and it looks just a case of when, rather than if this five-year-old returns to winning ways. The William Haggas team have been amongst the winners lately and a big run is expected from More Thunder.
Newmarket 4.00 - Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln won in good style on debut, and can follow up here now up in Group 2 company...
Abraham Lincoln has had just the one start, and it was a winning one. The son of Wootton Bassett powered clear to win a 6f maiden at the Curragh in good style 15 days ago, and there should be plenty more to come on that evidence. The colt looked very professional for one so inexperienced, and showed a very switched-on attitude to see off his rivals on that occasion. Abraham Lincoln steps up to 7f here for his second career start, and given his running style it would be no surprise to see him demonstrate more improvement now his stamina is drawn out. Ryan Moore takes the ride on the Aidan O'Brien trained individual, for the yard that last won his race in 2023 with the mighty City Of Troy. Abraham Lincoln looks to have the tools to be a class act here, and can keep his unbeaten tag as he moves ito deeper waters here.
Newmarket 4.35 - Quinault e/w
Quinalt has a bit to find, but loves the venue...
I am looking for a bit of each-way value, and I think Quinault shouldn't be dismissed from the equation as an each-way player in the July Cup at 4.35. On ratings he has a bit to find here with protagonists, as he has 10lb to find on official figures, but we saw in this race 12 months ago that you can rip he rule book up with these sprinters in some regards, as No Half Measures caused an upset at 66/1. Quinault hasn't quite been firing on all cylinders recently, but does arrive here boasting an unblemished record of two wins from two starts over Course and Distance, so it isn't going to be the biggest shock in the world if he runs a big race. Marco Ghiani takes the ride on the Stuart Williams runner who stays further than 6f, so will enjoy making this a proper test at the trip. I think this combination look the each-way play.
