British Grand Prix Race Tips As Antonelli On Pole In Silverstone
After an action-packed sprint weekend at Silverstone, here are our Formula 1 British Grand Prix tips and predictions ahead of today's race, which gets underway at 15:00 BST.
Saturday provided plenty of drama, with Kimi Antonelli continuing his superb season by converting sprint pole into victory for Mercedes, holding off a charging Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris over 17 laps.
Hamilton's second-place finish delighted the home crowd and underlined Ferrari's impressive pace throughout the weekend, while George Russell and Charles Leclerc also strengthened the case that both Mercedes and Ferrari will be firmly in the fight on Sunday.
Qualifying produced another thrilling battle.
Antonelli secured pole position with a stunning final Q3 lap, edging out Ferrari duo Leclerc and Hamilton in an incredibly tight contest.
Russell backed up Mercedes' excellent form by taking fourth, while Isack Hadjar impressed with fifth for Red Bull ahead of Lando Norris.
Max Verstappen could only manage seventh after struggling to hook together his final lap, leaving the four-time world champion with work to do if he is to challenge for victory.
With four different teams occupying the top eight positions and several home favourites starting near the front, today's British Grand Prix promises to be one of the most competitive races of the Formula 1 season.
British Grand Prix Prediction
The battle at the front looks exceptionally close, but Hamilton appears perfectly placed to challenge for another memorable Silverstone victory.
Ferrari have shown competitive pace throughout the weekend, and Hamilton has looked increasingly comfortable in the car on a circuit where he has enjoyed so much success over the years.
Starting third also gives the seven-time world champion an ideal opportunity to attack into the opening corners without needing to recover from further back on the grid.
Mercedes remain the benchmark after Antonelli's sprint victory and pole position, while Russell also looks capable of joining the podium battle.
Verstappen cannot be ruled out, despite starting seventh.
The Dutchman has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to recover through the field, and if Red Bull can unlock stronger race pace than they showed over one lap, another podium remains well within reach.
With the leading teams so closely matched, strategy, tyre management and even the possibility of a Safety Car could all prove decisive.
Most UK Betting sites narrowly favour Antonelli after his outstanding weekend so far, but Sunday's race appears far more open than the latest odds suggest.
Predicted podium: Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Antonelli, Max Verstappen
British Grand Prix Race Tips
All odds taken from Betnero at 09:00 UK time on Sunday, 5 July 2026.
Lewis Hamilton To Win – 6.20
Our first selection is Lewis Hamilton to claim another famous home victory.
The Ferrari driver has been one of the standout performers all weekend, finishing second in the sprint before qualifying third for Sunday's Grand Prix.
Few drivers understand Silverstone better than Hamilton, and with Ferrari demonstrating genuine race pace, the value on offer at 6.20 looks extremely appealing.
Max Verstappen To Finish On The Podium – 3.85
Next, we are backing Max Verstappen to recover into the top three.
Seventh on the grid is far from ideal, but Verstappen remains one of the strongest race drivers in the field and Red Bull have often shown better pace over a full Grand Prix distance than in qualifying.
If strategy plays into his hands and he avoids early trouble, another podium finish is well within reach.
At odds of 3.85, this represents an excellent value play.
Safety Car – YES – 1.45
Our final selection is for a Safety Car to appear during the race.
Silverstone regularly produces intense wheel-to-wheel racing, particularly through the opening laps as drivers fight for position into the high-speed opening sector.
With such a closely packed grid, multiple teams capable of fighting at the front and overtaking opportunities throughout the lap, incidents remain a real possibility.
Combined with the aggressive strategic approaches expected from the leading teams, backing a Safety Car at odds of 1.45 looks a sensible way to round off today's selections.
