We’re taking a look at what could well be one of the standout midweek Championship clashes, with high-flying Swansea travelling to in-form Portsmouth.

The hosts have recovered from a slow start to head into this one just outside the top ten, while Swansea responded to back-to-back defeats by hammering Blackburn on Saturday.

Portsmouth vs Swansea Odds

Ahead of our Portsmouth vs Swansea betting tips, let’s take a look at how Betnero have priced this one up:

1X2: Portsmouth 11/7 ; Draw 9/4; Swansea 12/7

Both Teams to Score: Yes 19/25; No EVS

Over/Under 2.5 Goals: Overs EVS; Unders 10/13

The bookies are having a tough time calling this, which is testament to the turnaround in form from John Mousinho’s side, but there is also something to say for Swansea’s inconsistent form since returning from the international break.

I have just about forgiven Pompey for costing us a 3/1 winner with an 86th minute equaliser at Wolves a fortnight ago and their steady rise up the table has continued since.

A home loss to Derby at the start of September had many tipping Pompey for a relegation scrap, but a great run since then has put much of those fears to one side for the time being.

With more than a quarter of the season gone, Swansea are certainly the Championship’s surprise package, but they’ve had a couple of blips in recent weeks.

Despite their great start, the latest Championship Odds still have them at around 4/1 to achieve promotion, so the bookies are perhaps expecting them to flatline sooner rather than later.

Portsmouth vs Swansea Prediction: Draw and Under 2.5 Goals @ 3/1

You really can make a case for either side picking up three points here.

Portsmouth have turned a corner and picked up some impressive results in September and October, while their tight pitch will make life difficult for their free-flowing, expansive opponents.

Swansea, on the other hand, sit second for a reason and have the recent upper hand on Pompey. That said, they have shown signs of slowing down, with scoreless defeats to West Ham and QPR showing that they aren’t immune to poor days at both ends of the pitch.

With Pompey in a good groove, I’m backing them to avoid defeat here and there’s good value on offer here for what would be a third draw in the last six meetings between these two.
