Final Day Championship Predictions and Best Bets
So, after nine long months and 45 gruelling matchdays, we find ourselves at the final weekend of the EFL season with plenty still to be decided.
My focus is on Championship predictions, where we still need to work out who is joining Coventry in the Premier League automatically. Slightly further down, Wrexham, Hull and Derby will fight it out for the final play-off place.
Championship Predictions: Ipswich to beat QPR and Over 2.5 Goals (8/11 with 10Bet)
A win will seal an instant return to the Premier League for Ipswich and they really should have too much for a QPR side that is looking forward to its holidays.
It’s been a funny spell for the visitors. Three straight wins were followed by back-to-back draws before the latest three-match losing run. That said, they haven’t found goals too hard to come by in that period, scoring 15 times.
So they should play their part in an entertaining affair. It was a 4-1 away win for Ipswich at Loftus Road earlier in the campaign and I fancy something similar over in Suffolk on Saturday lunchtime.
Norwich or Draw Double Chance vs Hull - (4/5 with 10Bet)
Hull need a positive result to have any chance of leapfrogging Wrexham into sixth but in Norwich they face an opponent that have had a great second half to the season and look set for a tilt at promotion next year.
Hull have been wobbling in recent weeks. The Tigers are winless in six and have tasted victory only twice since the end of February.
Contrast that with a Norwich side that have won the most points in the division during the last 25 games. April has featured some impressive victories too, including the scalps of Derby and away at Millwall.
It was a 2-0 away win for Hull in the reverse but Norwich are a different animal now and my EFL prediction is for them to avoid defeat and end the season with just one defeat in their final eight outings.
The odds for this weekend's EFL tips are provided by 10Bet and are correct as of 9:00am UK time on Saturday 2 May.
Bristol City vs Stoke - Over 3.5 Goals (31/20 with 10Bet)
The clash at Ashton Gate is a dead rubber, but one side that certainly cannot wait for the season to end is Stoke.
Only Sheffield Wednesday have performed worse than the Potters over the past 30 matches, but five of their last nine have seen over 3.5 goals and they hammered Saturday’s opponents Bristol City 5-1 back in November.
The Robins, on the other hand, have been inconsistent in the six games under veteran boss Roy Hodgson, winning two, drawing two and losing two. Their games have seen a glut of goals recently, though, with 13 in their last three matches.
And with those stats in mind, I’m leaning towards an entertaining match-up with plenty of goalmouth action.
Championship Predictions Treble - £10 returns £65
Blackburn are safe after an excellent finish to the season and they should send Leicester off to League One with a defeat that would see Rovers end the campaign with just one defeat in their final nine games.
Derby, meanwhile, need a win over Sheffield United to have a sniff at a play-off place. The Blades come into this one on a run of back-to-back defeats and only two wins since February, while the Rams will be on a high after a dramatic 3-2 win at QPR last time out.
And I’m going to include the previously mentioned Norwich-Draw Double Chance leg at a shade below even-money. The Canaries will be up there next year and Hull are headed the opposite way.
£10 on the treble with 10Bet returns just below £65. Good luck!
