Championship Predictions Today: EFL Betting Tips for 24 October

It’s another busy Saturday in the English Football League and as the first quarter of the season draws to a close, the second tier table is starting to take shape.

I’ve got Championship predictions today for four matches, focussing on both ends of the division.

Sheffield United vs Derby County Prediction - Home Win @ 3/4

The clash at Bramall Lane is one of three lunchtime kick-offs and Blades boss Chris Wilder will be hoping last weekend’s victory at Bristol City will be the start of some much-needed consistency.

The hosts are yet to pick up back-to-back wins this season, but this weekend they face a Derby side that have lost all of last season’s momentum and look in terrible shape.

Derby are without several key players and the ones in reserve just aren’t up to scratch. Goals are a major problem, while at the back the Rams are desperately short.

They also have a poor recent record against their hosts, losing six of the last eight meetings, so I like the look of a home win here with 10Bet to kick off our Championship predictions today.

Stoke City vs Bristol City Best Bet - Home Win @ 148/100

Moving on to the 3 o’clocks now and another side struggling in front of goal is Bristol City.

The Robins started the season with just one defeat in their opening five matches, but have since won one of the following six and have managed only three goals in that run.

Next up are Stoke, who have won six of their last eight matches, losing only against top-of-the-table Middlesbrough since the start of September.

So it makes sense to follow form here, especially with 10Bet pricing the hosts generously, at 148/100.

Cardiff City vs Birmingham City - Away Win and Both Teams to Score @ 53/20

The form side in the Championship has to be Birmingham, who seem to have fixed their away day troubles of last season and look set for another play-off push this time around.

Blues have won three in a row without conceding and travel to Cardiff, where they won on their last league visit back in December 2023.

The Bluebirds are 19th after just two wins this season, both of which came against sides sitting in the bottom eight of the table.

Both teams have scored in all five matches in the Welsh capital this season, while three of the last four Birmingham games on the road have seen the same result.

An away win looks great value in its own right at 27/20 but lets push the boat and add Both Teams to Score, for a juicy 53/20 double.

West Ham vs Southampton - Home Win and Over 2.5 Goals @ 6/5

We complete our Championship predictions today with what is surely the game of the day at the London Stadium.

West Ham vs Southampton has a Premier League feel about it and I wouldn’t be surprised to see both sides back in the top flight next season.

And they both head into this one in identically good form, with just one defeat apiece from their last ten games.

But Saints have a dreadful record against the Hammers, winning only one of their last 14 league meetings. Their away form this season is poor too, with just one win in five on the road.

West Ham, meanwhile, are in a good spot at home, winning three of their last four and scoring 14 goals in that sequence. With that firmly in mind, I like a home win with a few goals thrown in.
