EFL Championship Predictions Today 05/09
Lincoln City vs Southampton Tips: Saints to Secure the Points
Lincoln head into this Championship game unbeaten in three in all competitions, while Southampton have taken seven points from their last three league matches. Who will come out on top at Sincil Bank?
After starting life in the second tier with defeats to Middlesbrough and Portsmouth, Lincoln got their campaign up and running with a hard-fought win at Bolton Wanderers. The Imps followed that up with a midweek draw with Blackburn Rovers.
Southampton have responded well from their opening weekend loss to Watford, sealing back-to-back wins against Stoke City and Millwall and drawing 1-1 at Birmingham City. The Saints are looking to move on to six points this weekend.
Sincil Bank was a tough place to visit in EFL League One last season, but Lincoln have taken just one point from a possible six at home so far this term. We are backing a Southampton win here, available at 4/5 with PricedUp.
Our Prediction: Southampton to Win – 4/5, PricedUp
West Ham United vs Derby County Championship Picks: Back-to-Back Wins for the Hammers
After picking up their first Championship win of the season in midweek, West Ham are looking for another three points when Derby visit the London Stadium this afternoon.
West Ham made a slow start, taking just two points from their opening three games. However, Tuesday’s 4-2 home win over fellow promotion hopefuls Wolverhampton Wanderers was a huge step in the right direction.
Derby also ended their winless run in midweek, picking up a 2-0 win at Portsmouth. The victory at Fratton Park certainly lifted some of the gloom after last weekend’s 3-0 home loss to Swansea.
The London Stadium needs to be a fortress for West Ham this season, and these are the type of games that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men must win. Derby will no doubt pose a threat, but the Hammers should get the job done on their own patch.
We like the look of PricedUp’s 21/10 for West Ham to win and both teams to score.
Our Prediction: West Ham United to Win & Both Teams to Score – 21/10, PricedUp
Swansea City vs Wrexham Betting Odds & Predictions: Welsh Showdown to End in a Stalemate
The standout Championship game of the weekend is this evening’s meeting in South Wales between Swansea and Wrexham. The Swans lead the way after an impressive start to their season.
Swansea are the surprise leaders of the Championship after taking ten points from a possible 12. Vitor Matos’ troops have claimed wins over Stoke City, Derby, and Watford to sit joint top with Queens Park Rangers and Charlton Athletic.
After drawing at home with Sheffield United on matchday two, City have seen off Derby and Watford, scoring five and shipping none. Can the South Wales club keep the early-season momentum going?
Wrexham had a tough start, drawing with Cardiff City and Watford before losing at home to Birmingham. However, the Red Dragons sprang into life on Wednesday, thumping Millwall 3-0 at The Den.
Both teams will be desperate for all three points, but not losing could be the most important factor for the pair. We fancy the Welsh teams to play out a draw (23/10) at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Our Prediction: Draw – 23/10, PricedUp
