Championship Betting Tips: EFL Predictions for 12 September

The relentless EFL Championship action continues, with ten games taking place today.
Derby County entertain Birmingham City, Middlesbrough and Norwich City lock horns, and Swansea City host Burnley. Read on for our Championship betting tips, picks, and predictions.
Derby County vs Birmingham City Championship Betting Tips: Blues to Heap More Pressure on Rams
In one of the early kick-offs, Derby and Birmingham clash in a huge fixture at Pride Park Stadium. Both teams are desperate for points, but who will prevail in Derby?
The Rams have made a poor start, losing four of their opening six Championship matches. They have lost their last two at Pride Park to Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion without scoring.
Birmingham have started the 2026-27 campaign in patchy form. The Blues are winless in three in the Championship, losing 2-1 to Norwich City at Carrow Road last time out.
Having taken just one point from their opening six league games, the pressure is mounting on Derby boss John Eustace, who previously managed Birmingham. Unfortunately for him, we can see his old club piling more misery on Derby today.
PricedUp is offering the tempting odds of 12/5 for the away team to win to nil.
Our Prediction: Birmingham City to Win to Nil – 12/5, PricedUp
Middlesbrough vs Norwich City Picks: All Square at the Riverside
Middlesbrough and Norwich go head-to-head at the Riverside Stadium this afternoon in one of the standout second-tier encounters of the weekend. These two are expected to be there or thereabouts in the promotion picture this season.
Boro have made a solid start, winning three of their opening five. Last time out in the Championship, Kim Hellberg’s troops won 1-0 at Queens Park Rangers thanks to Will Lankshear’s goal.
Norwich’s form has been up and down, as the Canaries are the only team in the division to have won three and lost three of six. Philippe Clement’s men are looking to build on the midweek victory over Birmingham.
Middlesbrough are unbeaten in three Championship matches (two wins, one draw), while Norwich have won the last two. Boro are the favourites, but it could go either way at the Riverside.
The pair are hard to split, so our money is going on the stalemate. The draw and both teams to score is nicely priced at 7/2 with PricedUp.
Our Prediction: Draw & Both Teams to Score – 7/2, PricedUp
Swansea City vs Burnley Betting Odds & Predictions: Swans to Return to Winning Ways
Swansea welcome struggling Burnley to the Swansea.com Stadium. The Swans have made a strong start, while the Clarets are in the relegation zone after no wins from their opening six.
Swansea started the season like a house on fire, winning three and drawing two of their opening five to take top spot. However, the Welsh side suffered their first defeat in midweek, crashing to a 3-1 loss at Southampton.
Burnley have yet to recover from last term’s relegation from the Premier League, taking just three points from a possible 18. New head coach Nicky Hayen is winless in his opening six Championship fixtures as Burnley boss (three draws, three defeats).
The away team are desperate to claim their first league win of the season in Wales today, but Vitor Matos’ in-form Swans will be a tough nut to crack on home turf.
This promises to be an entertaining game at the Swansea.com Stadium. Although we fancy Burnley to score, our money is going on the hosts. Take a punt on the Swansea win and both teams to score at 14/5.
Our Prediction: Swansea City to Win & Both Teams to Score – 14/5, PricedUp
