Celtic vs. LASK Tips and Odds for 19 August: Home Comforts For The Hoops

Celtic FC huddles up before a friendly match against Chelsea FC at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in South Bend.

Celtic’s quest for Champions League football begins on Wednesday night when they face Austrian Bundesliga champions LASK at Celtic Park.

After capturing the Scottish Premiership title on a dramatic final day in May, Martin O’Neill’s side are already looking in ominous form. The Bhoys have two wins from two and six goals under their belt already in the league, and come into Wednesday on the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Dundee United in the League Cup.

But LASK themselves are on a high after winning their first league title in more than 60 years, and like Celtic, have begun the new league campaign with a 100% record.

So, let's get stuck into our Celtic vs LASK tips.

LASK’s Away Day Blues

LASK have enjoyed regular European football since ending an 18-year exile during the 2018-19 season.

But this will be their first time in the Champions League play-off round since 2019, when they were beaten over two legs by Club Brugge.

And their away record in Europe over the past few seasons doesn’t inspire confidence. You have to go back to a 2-0 win in Helsinki almost five years ago for their last continental away victory. They’ve lost eight of nine on the road since then.

Their last European campaign was a disastrous league phase in the 2024-25 Conference League, when they failed to win home or away, and shipped 11 goals in away defeats in Fiorentina, Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia and Bosnian minnows Borac Banja Luka.

And Celtic are experienced European campaigners who have historically performed well on their own patch. They may have failed to exit the group phase of the Europa League last season, but their campaign featured good home wins against Utrecht and Sturm Graz - who LASK beat to the league title a few months ago.

With all that in mind, all signs point towards a Celtic home win. The Scots themselves don’t travel well in Europe so need a victory to have a shot in the second leg next week.

A victory for the hosts is our first Celtic vs LASK tip, available at 4/7 with PricedUp.  With LASK traditionally leaky at the back away from home, I’m tempted to push for a Celtic Win and Over 1.5 Goals, which pushes us much closer to even-money.

Celtic vs LASK Tips: Kasper the Cream of the Scoring Crop

With Celtic in such free-scoring form, there are plenty of options when it comes to anytime goalscorers.

But I’m plumping for Kasper Hogh, who already has a league hat-trick to his name after signing from Bodo/Glimt over the summer.

The 25-year-old had a superb season for his former side in 2025-26, scoring 24 goals in all competitions. That run also included five goals in the Champions League, finding the net against Man City, Atletico Madrid, Sporting and Inter.

And with a rap sheet like that, it’s no surprise that I’m backing him at 3/4 to find the net inside 90 minutes.

Liam tips the Scales for a Yellow

With no potential suspension concerns, these opening European games are a good opportunity for yellow card bets.

And there’s a stark difference in the two sides’ disciplinary records last season.

No Austrian Bundesliga side picked up fewer than LASK’s 46 yellow cards from their 32 matches. Celtic aren’t a dirty team by any stretch, but picked up 80 yellows from 38 league outings in 2025-26.

And defender Liam Scales was the chief culprit, picking up a caution 12 times last season. The Irishman made his first start of the season at the weekend and should feature here, and he’s around the 2/1 mark to pick up a first yellow of the campaign on Wednesday.
