EPL Award Winners for March Announced
It’s a quiet weekend on the pitch for the Premier League this weekend as the Easter holiday is on the horizon. Liverpool and Arsenal are gearing up for the first leg of their quarterfinal round matchups in the Champions League. Others are preparing for the stretch run with hopes of a top four finish or, in some cases, avoiding relegation.
With that said, it’s not all quiet for the league. On Friday, the award winners for the month of March were announced. Without further ado, let’s take a look at who won what in March.
EA Sports Player of the Month
Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United earned the EA Sports Player of the Month for his solid play in March. Manchester United played four fixtures in the month, posting a 2-1-1 mark in Premier League action.
In the four matches, Manchester United scored nine goals and Fernandes had a hand in six of those. He tallied two goals and recorded four assists in the month. For the season, Fernandes is third on the squad with eight goals while he is far and away the team leader with 16 assists. No other player has more than three for the team.
Fernandes is within four assists of the Premier League single-season record set by Thierry Henry (2002/03) and Kevin De Bruyne (2019/20) of 20. Manchester United does have seven matches left to play. Fernandes broke David Beckham’s single season record of 15 assists for United, which was set in 1999-2000.
Barclays Manager of the Month
Arsenal has dominated all season long, posting a record of 21 wins, three losses and seven draws on the year. They own a nine-point lead over Manchester City for the top spot in the standings. They own a massive +39 goal differential. Arsenal is unbeaten in their last eight matches (6-0-2) in Premier League play. Overall, it's been a stellar season for them.
With that in mind, it’s fitting that Mikel Arteta earned the Barclays Manager of the Month award for March. Arsenal was 3-0-0 in the month, outscoring the opposition by an aggregate score of 5-2. It marked his eighth such award in his career. That has him even for the sixth-most all-time with Harry Redknapp and Martin O’Neill. Arsenal faces Sporting CP in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal matchup this week.
Guinness Goal of the Month
The Guinness Goal of the Month award was given to William Osula of Newcastle United. The award stemmed from a big marker in a win over Manchester United March 4. Osula flummoxed Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens in the 90th minute to tally the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory for Newcastle United. He became just the seventh Newcastle United player to win the award. Osula was the first Newcastle player to win the award since Alexander Isak won in December 2024 for his marker against Liverpool.
Coca-Cola Save of the Month
In what may only be fitting, Aaron Ramsdale, also of Newcastle United, earned the Coca-Cola Save of the Month. The award-winning stop came in the same match against Manchester United March 4. Ramsdale's save came as he tipped away a dipping shot by Joshua Zirksee in the 89th minute of the match.
Newcastle United played the entire second half of that match with 10 men as Jacob Ramsey was sent off with a red card during extra time just before the half. After that save, Kieran Trippier’s long pass set up Osula. He unleashed the shot that led to the Guinness Goal of the Month in the 90th minute to give Newcastle a 2-1 win.
