Viktor Gyokeres’ Arsenal career may have taken some time to take off, but the Sweden international is proving his worth to the Gunners in the Premier League title race.

Gunners Pull Six Clear

Before Manchester City’s game at Everton on Monday night, Arsenal are six points clear at the top of the Premier League table. City have two games in hand, but the pressure is now firmly on Pep Guardiola’s men.

Arsenal made light work of Fulham in Saturday’s all-London affair at the Emirates Stadium. The Cottagers were in fine fettle before kick-off, but Gyokeres goals either side of Bukayo Saka’s strike gave Mikel Arteta’s side a comfortable 3-0 home win.

Goal difference could be key in the battle for the Premier League title, and Arsenal moved on to +41 with the Fulham victory. City are six points behind with a +37 goal difference, and the London side arguably have the easier fixtures on paper.

Gyokeres Starting to Shine

Gyokeres moved to joint fourth in the Premier League scoring charts with his excellent brace against Fulham. The former Coventry City striker has netted 14 Premier League goals in his debut season in North London.

Although he’s not always been the first-choice striker at the Emirates this term, Gyokeres is a dominant force in attack. The No. 14 can hold the ball up and certainly knows where the back of the net is.

Gyokeres has been in red-hot form for club and country over the past six weeks or so, scoring nine times in ten appearances combined for Arsenal and Sweden. Before Saturday’s double, he scored from the spot in the 1-1 UEFA Champions League draw at Atletico Madrid last Wednesday.

Gyokeres has been tipped to be a vital cog in Arsenal’s machine for the remainder of the season. Arteta’s boys have three winnable games in the EPL and are in a good position to secure a spot in the Champions League final for the first time in 20 years.
