Tchouameni Heading for Old Trafford?
Manchester United are being heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who looks set to leave the Spanish capital this summer.
As United look to bolster their squad ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season, Michael Carrick is ready to splash the cash on the France international.
Could Tchouameni Be the Perfect Signing?
Casemiro’s departure has left a huge hole in midfield, and filling the void is a priority for Carrick this summer. The Red Devils have been linked with many midfielders, but Tchouameni’s name is gathering pace in the news.
Reports from Spain suggest that Tchouameni will cost around £85m, which has put Man United on red alert. The 26-year-old is a combative midfielder, known for his ball-winning ability and tactical nous, and he would slot straight into the heart of United's midfield.
Since making the switch from Monaco in 2022, Tchouameni has racked up almost 200 league and cup appearances for Real Madrid. He has been a serial winner in the Spanish capital, helping Real to La Liga, Copa del Rey, and UEFA Champions League successes.
Tchouameni is reportedly ready to leave the Santiago Bernabeu after four years at the club, despite having two years left on his contract. However, Real Madrid will only part ways with their French midfielder if the price is right.
Can Red Devils Build on Third Place?
Man United are looking to build on a third-place finish in the Premier League. Carrick did an outstanding job after initially stepping in on an interim basis in January after Ruben Amorim’s departure.
Carrick’s reward for taking United back into the Champions League is a full-time contract until 2028. The former United midfielder has more than steadied the ship and is a huge favourite with the supporters at Old Trafford.
Carrick’s boys kick off their 2026-27 Premier League campaign with a trip to the MKM Stadium to face newly promoted Hull City. The Red Devils’ first home game will be against another promoted team, Ipswich Town. Could Tchouameni be lining up at Old Trafford for the first time?
