Robertson Ready for Tottenham Switch
Andy Robertson is reportedly close to joining Tottenham Hotspur after his Anfield departure. Reports suggest that Scotland’s captain is ready to sign on the dotted line at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Roberton was a hero among the Liverpool fans during his nine-year spell on Merseyside, turning himself into one of the Premier League’s best left-backs. Could he be exactly what Spurs need right now?
Forgettable Season for Spurs
After a woeful season, a major overhaul is expected at Tottenham this summer. Several players are expected to leave, with a host of new names coming through the door.
Spurs survived relegation to the EFL Championship by the skin of their teeth, beating Everton on the final day to keep their EPL status. The London side picked up just ten league wins all season and had a miserable campaign from start to finish.
Roberto De Zerbi came in April and effectively saved the club. He won three of seven, only losing to Sunderland and Chelsea. Surviving was imperative, as a club with Tottenham’s stature should be nowhere near the bottom three.
Robertson’s Glittering Nine-Year Anfield Career
Massive changes will unfold in North London this summer, and Robertson is set to be De Zerbi’s first signing. According to the latest reports, the Scotland international has verbally agreed to join the club.
Robertson is a Premier League stalwart, racking up 275 league appearances for the Reds. He won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, the UEFA Champions League, and several other major trophies during his time at Anfield.
There were far too many underperforming players at Tottenham last season, so bringing in a player with Roberton’s ability and experience could be the best bit of business De Zerbi does this summer.
Once the deal is done and dusted, the Spurs boss will be eyeing up even more quality players. The Londoners have been linked with the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcos Senesi as the squad rebuild begins.
