Garnacho Linked With La Liga Switch

Aston Villa loanee Alejandro Garnacho is being monitored by a host of La Liga clubs, following a disappointing start to life in the West Midlands.

The 22-year-old has played a little over 30 minutes of senior football since joining Villa on loan from Premier League rivals Chelsea this summer.

The temporary move includes a £43 million purchase option, contingent on several factors, including the Argentine’s game time.

But with Villa boss Unai Emery preferring youngster George Hemmings as his left-wing option, the Daily Mail is now reporting the possibility of Garnacho leaving the Premier League after six years in England.

An Atletico Return?

One of the clubs believed to be interested in Garnacho is Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, which the winger left in 2020 to join Manchester United's youth setup.

After breaking into the United first team in 2022, Garnacho went on to make 144 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 26 times.

But his United career turned sour under former boss Ruben Amorim, who dropped him for the Manchester Derby at the back end of 2024, and after failing to rebuild the relationship, he was sold to Chelsea the following summer for around £40 million.

He scored eight times in all competitions last season for his new club, but much of his best form was seen in cup competitions, and following Cole Palmer’s return from injury and the British record acquisition of Morgan Rogers, Garnacho found himself out of the Chelsea picture.

And after failing to impress Unai Emery, who is known for biding his time when blooding new recruits into his first-team plans, the former United wonderkid now finds his career at a crossroads.
