It felt like an eternity, but after a huge Nations League programme, domestic football makes its way back to the top of the agenda today, following a three-week hiatus.

With plenty of action in all four divisions of the league pyramid, there is plenty to talk about.

City Under the Spotlight

In the top flight, Arsenal will bid to return to winning ways in the lunchtime kick-off when they host unbeaten Leeds.

Another side yet to taste defeat this season are Brentford, who travel to face an Aston Villa side they beat three times last season.

Chelsea, Spurs, Brighton and Manchester United are all in action too, but all eyes will be on Man City tomorrow, who play their first match since being found guilty of 114 Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches when they face Liverpool.

Championship Talking Points

The Championship action has already gotten underway, as West Ham missed a late penalty in their 1-1 draw with QPR last night.

Today, the pick of the action is at the Riverside, as Middlesbrough host Wolves, with the winner potentially going ahead of Swansea at the top of the table.

Neither will, though, if the Swans beat Norwich at home this afternoon.

At the bottom of the table, Burnley will be hoping for their first win of the season when they travel to Watford, while Preston and Derby are at home to Millwall and Wrexham respectively.

League One

We have had some third and fourth-tier action over the break, with Plymouth starting the day ahead of Bradford on goal difference at the summit of League One.

The Pilgrims host AFC Wimbledon in one of the two lunchtime kick-offs, while Bradford’s first game following the departure of Graham Alexander to Preston is the visit of Leyton Orient.

The game of the day, though, sees third host fourth, with Sheffield Wednesday making the trip across Yorkshire to face Huddersfield.

League Two

Despite three defeats and having two unbeaten sides sitting below them, Salford start the day top of League Two and visit fourth-place Cheltenham at 3pm.

In another match featuring two sides in the top six, Barnet face a difficult trip to face Steve Evans’ Bristol Rovers.

Down at the bottom, Northampton and Port Vale are struggling after relegation from League One.

The Cobblers, who were recently taken over by a consortium led by former AC Milan star Alexandre Pato, head to newly-promoted York, while Vale are at home to Grimsby.
