Contrasting Emotions for the Premier League’s New Boys

Hull City continued their incredible unbeaten start to life back in the Premier League, while Coventry City remain pointless.

The step up from the EFL Championship to the Premier League is seemingly getting tougher; just ask Frank Lampard. However, Sergej Jakirovic’s Tigers did not get the memo, sitting pretty in third.

Hull Remain Unbeaten

Hull started life back in England’s promised land with a stunning 2-0 home victory over Manchester United. City followed that up by narrowly winning at Coventry before holding Aston Villa to a draw.

Hull almost shocked Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend, leaving London with a point after a hard-fought 2-2 draw.

After falling behind early, Jakirovic’s men were 2-1 up at half time. Joao Pedro levelled in the second period, but Hull held on to maintain their unbeaten start.

Ipswich Town, who finished second in the Championship last term, have also picked up two Premier League wins. The Tractor Boys left it late to secure a 3-2 victory at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Hull are flying high in third, with only Arsenal and Manchester City above the Tigers, while Ipswich sit ninth on six points.

Coventry’s Struggles Continue

While Hull and Ipswich have settled in nicely, Coventry continue to struggle. Last term’s Championship winners have found the step up difficult, losing four out of four to prop up the EPL table at this early stage.

After defeats to Arsenal, Hull, and Man City, Lampard’s boys crashed to an embarrassing 5-0 home loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Coventry have shipped ten goals and are one of only two teams in the top flight yet to score a Premier League goal.

Next up in the league for the Sky Blues is a trip to Nottingham Forest. Can City end their poor start with a positive result at the City Ground?

Elsewhere, Hull are aiming to keep up their unbeaten run when they travel to Newcastle United. At the same time, Ipswich make the trip to Everton before hosting champions Arsenal in midweek cup action.
