Carrick On Brink of Old Trafford Exit?

After another damaging defeat in Europe, the pressure is mounting on Manchester United boss Michael Carrick.
However, the 45-year-old has remained defiant and is set to take charge of the Red Devils for this weekend’s crunch Premier League fixture with Bournemouth.
Woeful Defeat in Como
Man United’s embarrassing midweek defeat to Como in the UEFA Champions League has compounded the club’s misery. It was men against boys at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, as Cesc Fabregas’ troops ran out easy 4-1 winners.
The pressure has been mounting on Carrick’s shoulders for weeks, but the defeat in Lombardy could be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
That said, Carrick is set to take charge of United against Bournemouth this weekend. It was a contrasting week for the pair in Europe, as the Cherries hammered Italian giants AC Milan 3-0 in the UEFA Europa League.
Marco Rose’s men are also desperate for EPL points, with Bournemouth winning just one of seven so far. Sunday’s clash at Old Trafford is monumental for the pair.
United’s Winless Run Stretches to Seven
Man United responded well from the opening-day loss to Hull City, thumping both Ipswich Town and Sabah and drawing with Everton in their next three. However, United’s form has gone downhill since.
The midweek European loss extended their winless run to seven matches in all competitions. Since the Sabah success, Man United have drawn three and lost four of seven.
Despite the Old Trafford woe right now, a win on Sunday could take the Manchester giants into the top half of the Premier League table.
However, life does not get any easier, as Carrick’s men face Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Liverpool in their next three league games.
Sunday’s showdown is pretty much make-or-break for Carrick. He would live to fight another day with a win, while a defeat would surely mark the end of his Old Trafford managerial reign.
