Defending champions Portugal confirmed their place in the Nations League quarter-finals after coming from behind to beat Denmark in Porto.

Perfect Portugal Four From Four

Another victory is the perfect tonic for new Portugal boss Jorge Jesus, who has to deal with the fallout following Cristiano Ronaldo’s public exit from the camp after being dropped for the match against Denmark in Copenhagen.

They won that match 4-2, but they went behind last night when Kristoffer Ajer stunned the home crowd with a superb effort after 36 minutes.

But their lead lasted barely two minutes, as Joao Cancelo scored for the second match running to leave things all square at the break.

Ramos Takes the Reins

Midway through the second half, Erling Haaland hobbled off with an injury that could rule him out of Manchester City’s trip to Liverpool this weekend.

And in his absence, Goncalo Ramos got on the end of Joao Felix’s cutback following a delightful Vitinha pass to continue Portugal’s 100% record and confirm their place in the last eight of the competition.

Germany Yet to Pop Under Klopp

Elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp is still looking for some consistency from his Germany side as they were held to a 0-0 draw by surprise package Greece.

After beating the Germans in Augsburg last week, the Greeks held firm despite having less than 30% possession in Thessaloniki.

But they are now second in League A Group 2 on goal difference after the Netherlands beat Serbia in Eindhoven.

On a night that saw Virgil van Dijk make his 100th appearance for his country, the Netherlands took the lead through Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, before Mihajlo Cvetković equalised moments later.

But Zirkzee was on hand to tap home from close range to seal their second 2-1 win over Serbia in the space of a week, while extending Xavi’s unbeaten start as manager to four games.
