Sergio Perez Signs New Long-Term Deal With Cadillac

Sergio Perez has committed his future to Cadillac through 2029, signing a new multi‑year extension to keep him with the American team.
The deal arrives ahead of a landmark moment for the 36‑year‑old, who will celebrate his 300th Grand Prix start at his home race in Mexico City. Pérez joined Cadillac before their debut season, partnering Valtteri Bottas as the team began building from scratch.
His career includes six victories - five with Red Bull between 2021 and 2024, plus his breakthrough win for Racing Point in 2020 - and runner‑up honours behind Max Verstappen in 2023.
Sergio Perez and Cadillac: A long‑term commitment
Cadillac’s first seasons have been challenging, with neither Pérez nor Bottas scoring a point in 2026. Pérez’s best results - three 14th‑place finishes - underline the scale of the rebuild facing the new organisation. Yet the Mexican driver remains fully invested in the project, describing his extension as a natural continuation of the journey he began last year.
“Joining Cadillac from day one was a project I truly believed in,” he said, emphasising the patience and persistence required to establish a competitive team and upset the Formula 1 odds. He added that the progress behind the scenes has been “incredibly rewarding,” even if results have yet to reflect the work being done.
For Pérez, the next three years represent an opportunity to help shape a new contender from the ground up - a challenge he says he is “fully committed” to embracing.
Cadillac’s future and Perez’s role
Cadillac’s early struggles are not unusual for new entrants, and Pérez’s extension signals confidence from both sides that the project is moving in the right direction. As the team continues refining its car and operational structure, Pérez’s experience offers a crucial anchor. His determination to push through the difficult early phase reflects the mindset required to build a competitive organisation in modern Formula 1.
With his future secured and his 300th race approaching, Pérez enters the next chapter aiming to help Cadillac take meaningful steps forward and eventually fight for points and podiums rather than survival.
