Red Bull's Isack Hadjar To Return For This Weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix

Red Bull have confirmed that Isack Hadjar will return to action at this week’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, marking his comeback after missing three Formula 1 races through a wrist injury.

The 21‑year‑old French driver was sidelined following an accident while boxing, forcing Red Bull to draft in Liam Lawson as cover for the rounds in the Netherlands, Monza and Madrid.

Isack Hadjar Makes Red Bull Return In Baku

The team said Hadjar has now made a “full recovery” and will resume his seat alongside Max Verstappen for the Baku weekend, which runs from 24–26 September.

His return comes at a crucial point in the Formula 1 season, with Hadjar currently eighth in the standings on 71 points.

Red Bull also paid tribute to Lawson’s contribution, praising his professionalism and adaptability.

“Stepping in under challenging circumstances, he delivered some impressive performances and made a valuable contribution to the team,” the statement read.

Lawson finished seventh at Zandvoort and sixth in Madrid, though Monza proved more difficult as he came home 14th.

With Hadjar reinstated, Lawson will now return to Red Bull’s junior outfit, Racing Bulls, where he is expected to resume his development programme.

Hadjar Ready to Rejoin Verstappen

Hadjar’s comeback reunites him with four‑time world champion Verstappen, offering Red Bull a familiar pairing as they head into one of the calendar’s most demanding street circuits.

The Frenchman began his career in karting before rising rapidly through the junior ranks, and his strong early‑season form has kept him firmly in the top 10 of the championship.

Reflecting on his return, Hadjar said he was eager to get back behind the wheel. He will hope to continue building momentum after a frustrating spell on the sidelines.

The return could not come sooner for Hadjar. His debut with the senior Red Bull team had been going well, with several strong performances.

But the second-seat curse at Red Bull struck once again, with yet another driver failing to complete a full season.

Hadjar will therefore be desperate to return this weekend.
