Lando Norris Signs McLaren Contract Extension Until 2030

Lando Norris has committed his long‑term future to McLaren, agreeing a new contract that keeps him at the team until at least 2030.
Speaking in a recent interview, Norris said the decision was “quite an easy yes,” explaining that he “didn’t even have a look” at other options before signing.
Lando Norris At McLaren Until 2030
Although he admitted “there was some interest from elsewhere,” Norris told BBC Sport: “I don’t want to go anywhere… that’s why it really was probably one of the easiest decisions I’ve made since being in Formula 1.”
The world champion’s loyalty stems from the relationships he has built within the team, particularly with Zak Brown and Andrea Stella.
After joining McLaren in 2019, Norris endured several seasons of McLaren’s F1 struggles before the team surged forward under Stella’s leadership, winning back‑to‑back constructors’ titles in 2024 and 2025 and delivering Norris his first drivers’ crown last year.
Norris Still Has Title Hopes
Despite a difficult start to the current campaign, Norris believes McLaren are now back in the fight.
A major upgrade has transformed their pace, helping him win the last two races and cut the gap to championship leader Kimi Antonelli to 83 points with 11 rounds remaining.
Norris said he is “starting the fight of defending it,” adding: “It’s still a big mountain to climb… but we’re confident as a team that we can try to achieve it.”
He said recent improvements have restored belief: “We’ve been very, very close to being in the position where we can fight for wins and podiums… I’m certainly more confident than I have been.”
McLaren Keep Faith With Norris
Andrea Stella praised Norris’ growth, calling him “an exceptional driver” whose speed, maturity and commitment have been central to McLaren’s revival.
Zak Brown echoed the sentiment, saying Norris’ journey reflects McLaren’s dedication to developing elite talent.
With Norris and Oscar Piastri locked in for the future, McLaren believe they have one of the strongest partnerships in Formula 1.
