West Ham Starting to Strut Their Stuff in Championship

After a disappointing start to life in the EFL Championship, West Ham United are starting to come good, winning three in a row to move towards the summit.

The Hammers are looking to keep the momentum going when they host Wrexham on Friday before travelling to rivals Millwall next weekend.

Nuno Getting it Right

After drawing at Burnley and Watford and losing at home to Charlton Athletic in their opening three league fixtures, the pressure was starting to mount on boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, a week is a long time in the Championship, and the Irons have taken nine points from their last three matches. After beating Bolton Wanderers in a five-goal thriller on Tuesday, West Ham briefly moved to the top.

Before winning in Bolton, United saw off Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County to kick-start their campaign. Nuno’s troops are currently second in the table, collecting 11 points from a possible 18.

Big Week Ahead for the Londoners

West Ham will be eyeing up a fourth consecutive victory on Friday night when Welsh team Wrexham visit the London Stadium. The Red Dragons have had a mixed start to their season, but could be tricky customers.

Once the Wrexham game is out of the way, West Ham’s full focus will be on Millwall. Next weekend’s showdown at The Den will be the first Championship meeting between the bitter rivals since February 2012 – when United won 2-1 at Upton Park.

West Ham have recovered from a sticky start and are beginning to strut their stuff in England’s second tier. The Hammers have been the title favourites ever since dropping into the Championship, and an instant return is a must for a club this size.

West Ham head into Friday’s home fixture as the bookies’ favourites, and they would love to be on 14 points before rocking up at The Den next Saturday.
