Watford’s Woes Continue with Woeful Defeat in Wales

Watford's misery was compounded in Wales, as Alessio Dionisi’s boys crashed to another heavy defeat on Tuesday night.
Watford have been woeful in the last two EFL Championship games, losing 4-0 at home to Burnley before falling to an embarrassing 5-1 defeat at Cardiff City.
Miserable Night in South Wales
The pressure was already stacked on Dionisi’s shoulders after the humbling home reverse to Burnley last weekend. They needed a positive result in Cardiff, but the Hornets were second best throughout.
Watford went into Tuesday’s game at the Cardiff City Stadium having won only two Championship games all season, while the Bluebirds had just one league win to their name.
Watford could have scored early on, but it was all about the Bluebirds after that. Jack Moylan ran the show and scored a brace, while a Mattie Pollock own goal and efforts from Ollie Tanner and Callum Robinson gave the home team a resounding 5-1 win.
After four straight defeats, Watford have slipped into the relegation zone.
Dionisi’s Days at Vicarage Road Numbered?
The Watford board are not shy of sacking managers, and Dionisi’s days at Vicarage Road could be numbered after the bad run of results.
The Herefordshire club started the season with a stunning 2-1 victory over Southampton at The Vic, but their results and performances have gone downhill since.
They picked up a good draw with West Ham United in late August, but the Hornets have lost six of the following seven in the Championship.
Since beating Preston, Watford have taken zero points from 12 on offer, conceding 12 goals along the way. It has been a miserable time for the club’s long-suffering fans.
Watford welcome Charlton Athletic to Vicarage Road in their next Championship fixture this Saturday. It remains to be seen whether Dionisi will be in the dugout, but it will be a huge game for the struggling Hornets.
